Re: Mobile Buyer's Guide

Guys how good is Nokia Asha 5xx series. I am looking for a <4inch touchscreen and easy to use OS for my parents. They dont need a smart phone but I want them to get the feel of touchscreens with better and bigger icon view (so that they dont require the reading glass to zoom it for them)??

Better than entry level android phones specially when you are planning it for a less techie person :)

Re: Mobile Buyer's Guide

Bought Grand 2 for 18k... no it's not second hand. I need a dual SIM. So bought it, else would have gone for Galaxy S4 or nexus 5 or Moto X which were in my list. Got it so cheap and I think it's the best available dual SIM from a well known brand other than HTC ONE.

Re: Mobile Buyer's Guide

Thanks. Yes its really cheap, so I didn't think twice. Will post pics soon in the latest purchase thread.

Actually I made up my mind before that my next phone will be a AMOLED display :-( but I had to compromise for a dual SIM as it will help me separate my work life and personal life :|

You would have spent 1k more for Canvas Knight!
Better looks
Better Screen
More reliability
Best resale value!

more reliable? Micromax is rebranding FLY/BLU mobile with Knight being rebranded Wiko Highway or something like that. can't say they are reliable that way. and about better resale value, better to get a reliable phone and use it for 3yr+ than go for things like resale value.

+1 to this

just give your phone (if its working) to someone you know and needs it.

Shouldn't Aqua i5 be in 10-15k category ?

SoC in S5 plus is green whereas in 406Q it isn't. Any reason ? AFAIK MT6582 and Snapdragon 200 8212 are quite similar

price keeps jumping up and down. it was ~9.5k a month ago now it retails for 10k+

snapdragon 200 seems to be on the slower side (GPU) than MT6582 (not 6582M). i'll check and update the stats. as this is a completely new chipset, not much benchmarks available for comparison.

Ok

IMO Snap 200 should be green too. GPU may be a little slower, but you gotta agree Snap 200 quad @ 7k is really good

btw Is there any better option than 406Q in a 7k budget ? I'm closing in on it

i just highlight the best h/w you are getting at a price range. for those offering normal h/w but excellent VFM, there is My smartphone pick.

go for it. if you are lucky, lava may release android 4.4 in the near future. or maybe custom rom based on next android release, though chances are almost nil for that.
