The Complete Smartphone Buyer's Guide

The Samsung A05s (SD 680, 6 GB RAM, 128 GB storage) phone is available on Amazon and Flipkart at 13K, compared to 15K about a month earlier.

This is just for info, in case anyone wants to buy. It's a 4G phone (see discussion above).
No one should buy that even at 11-12k, get Redmi 12 5G or Poco M6 pro 5G for closer to 11k price. M34 at 15-16k is a much better deal for a Samsung phone.

Now using Redmi Note 3, bought on 2016...Now lagging, some apps not able to install...still manage.,
2years back battery replaced due to bulge other than no issues.

That's a really good price.

Any info on whether it has call recording without announcement? I searched Flipkart and found both yes and no answers.

Watch reviews of that Poco or Redmi 12 5G & see if any Indian reviewer mentions the call recording situation. IMO it will at least have call recording with announcement.

options under 20000? the lesser the better. calls, sms, whatsapp are the only work. i have chosen Samsung M34.
decided against motorola because the power button of moto g5s+ got broken and the service centre told me that the whole back panel (price 6000) will be changed as the button comes only with it. (the girl there herself was very uncomfortable at this and asked the technician why will someone spend 6000 for a button.) spare parts needs to be ordered from company.

M34 is ok choice, if you want Samsung. Its major con is SoC. I highly doubt it will be smooth after 3 OS updates, it will get updates till Android 17.

11R vs 12R vs S23 vs any other?
(camera > performance > storage > ram > all redmi note 7s features)

Is OnePlus 12R good buy now? compared to previous 11R pricing is same. Not in hurry to buy.
and now budget is increased to 45k so 256 GB purchasable (but still no 512GB or 1TB in 2024)

if 1 image size above 10 mb then 15K+ photos can be stored
I don't know how much photos other users (those who buy mobile for camera, photography etc) store on their flagship devices (Ultra, pro etc) without any online backup solution

My S20FE with heic extension stores 12MP images mostly under 2MB.

Yes, 12R 256GB one is a great choice. Don't have high expectations from camera, especially the ultrawide. Primary rear cam & selfie cam are good even though not the best. Higher battery capacity + 8 Gen 2 makes for a great combination.

S23 has been going for 55k for 128GB model & 60k for 256GB. If you are willing to wait a few months (there's a sale in May usually, else in Oct sale I expect it to be under 40k), this will be a better choice. Cons of S23 vs OP 12R will be slower charging, lower battery life & smaller size. Pros of S23 - Smaller size (this is kind of personal preference), lighter in weight, better UI, better camera package with good ultrawide & telephoto. Both of them will get updates till Android 17.

Using online cloud as backup is recommended anyway for mobile phone nowadays because mobile has more chances of being stolen/physically damaged when on the move.

iQOO neo 9 pro = Sony 50 MP IMX920
vs
12R = Sony 50 MP IMX890 Camera System
still no 512GB or 1TB storage
I can wait for this too.
or should I prebook (for discounts)
or buy 12r
or wait for more reviews after 22 feb

OnePlus 12r vs iqoo neo 9 pro vs 11r 512 GB
which one will be better?
(camera > performance > storage > ram)
There are reviews online. Can ignore 11R IMO, 512GB is overkill for most easily. 256GB is ideal at that budget. So that leaves 12R & Neo 9 pro. Both have 3 OS update promise, similarly heavy OS but iQoo might have bloatwares vs OP. Camera & its processing should be identical as both are BBK companies. OP 12R has UFS 3.1 vs UFS 4.0 on Neo 9's 256GB variant. Anyways you will use a tempered glass on both, so doubt lack of Gorilla glass will matter a lot on Neo 9. Plastic frame is similarly not a concern at all, heck I want more premium feeling plastic back phones instead of glass back.

IMO just check comparison videos & decide if OP 12R feels worth the premium. 8/256GB Neo 9 pro is well priced.

Poco M6 Pro 5G and Redmi 12 5G both have the same features, yet the Poco M6 Pro costs Rs. 10K while the Redmi 12 5G costs Rs. 12500 at present on Amazon. Any reason why the Redmi is more costly?
