Pornogrind and jazz @ level 6.the sound tracks from 'cannibal holocaust are the most disturbing things i ever heard:D
Btw wtf is 'artpop'?

Jazz is pretty mainstream to be at Level 6 I guess. I think it should be at level 3-4.

hmm contemporary jazz like herbie hancock and guitar oriented jazz like joe pass may be level 1,but stuff like miles davis, coltrane etc are very strange,we need to get stoned to understand the music fully:D

^Maybe the author needed to fill those spaces.I guess the whole point of that picture is to show how much weirder a particular genre is.i dont know if its right but level 1 seems to be the top of a cliff:D
In reality there are weirdos in every genre.Lady gogo's fav band is iron maiden yet shes a pop artist.

^in India a 10k budget wont get you a decent setup, but you can get a good guitar like yamaha pacifica series, epiphone les paul, cort or even an Ltd m 10 for around 10k.Better buy the guitar and save up for the amp, later. However there are indian brands like GB&A,Givson-not bad for a starter, though its better to invest on some intl brand.and lastly
Is he sure that he wants an electric?coz he could get some nice acoutic guitars for that price:)

Though it is quite possible to get a Guitar/amp combo in that price, I'd recommend that you don't and save up a little more. At 11k you can get an entry level Greg Bennett Avion, which has pretty decent tone and go in for a Marshall MG-10CD amp for about 3.5k (I think).

If you still insist on a lower budget, you can get some brand like Java and some amp like Stranger within that budget, but be advised that both sound like sh1t (trust me, I know).

I hope you are talking about a second hand Epiphone Les Paul, because an Epiphone Les Paul starts from 27k. Yeah, the ESP LTD-M10 is a good choice, alongside the F10 Grassroot model. Both cost around 10-11k. Yes, it is theoretically right to buy the guitar first and then get an amp, but practically, if you have no means of obtaining (borrowing) an amp, you will have nothing to do with your guitar for an indefinite amount of time. So, I recommend that it is better to get a guitar/amp combo for beginners.

Obviously it depends on what he really wants to play. Both has its own pros and cons(not really).
Both are fine for a starters though.I started on acoustic, its a little tougher than electric,i will say.
Ill say Buy the acoustic if hes not sure, cant be wrong.Recently i went to my local shop,i played the yamaha acoustics namely f 270(not sure) and f 310.and wow They were really very nice guitars, for 7-9k they are definitely bang for buck.Cort also has some nice ones, though i havent tried-check youtube.
Or if he is okay with a used guitar, ill suggest going for it rather buying new.

@ Nanducob thats what even I suggested...since even I own one....and it would be good for learning too

I am the master of my Fate.
^^Acoustics are little harder to learn than electric so,for beginners I suggest Acoustics coz once learn he can play any guitar acoustic or electric...

Not always true. Both have their own 'hard'nesses. If 'hardness' is the deciding factor then he should first play those wind/brass instruments, then playing the guitar would be a walk in the park.Better musical instruments=easy to play. However, most instruments are easy to play, but hard to master.
