why can't you copy text from the link and post it here??

Sure....
While Sony Computer Entertainment has not publicly announced exact release date of the PlayStation 4 game console to leave some additional flexibility for its shipments schedules, it looks like the firm has provided exact timetable to its partners. Just like its arch-rival from Microsoft Corp., Sony’s PS4 will hit the market in November this year.

Media Markt, one of the largest retailers of consumer electronics in Germany, the Netherlands and some other European countries, will start to sell Sony PlayStation 4 game console on Wednesday, November 13, 2013. The retailer has started to advertise the launch date of the console in its stores in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, according to a picture made by a member of NeoGAF forums.

Given the fact that MediaMarkt is very influential, it will start sales of the PS4 along with Sony itself and other retailers. Therefore, the PlayStation 4 will launch on November 13, 2013, across major European markets.

Since Sony tends to release its game consoles in the U.S. ahead of the roll-out in the EU, it is highly likely that the PS4 will become available in North America in late October or very early in November.

Sony PlayStation 4 is based on a semi-custom AMD Fusion system-on-chip that integrates eight AMD x86 Jaguar cores, custom AMD Radeon HD core with unified array of 18 AMD GCN-like compute units (1152 stream processors which collectively generate 1.84TFLOPS of computer power that can freely be applied to graphics, simulation tasks, or some mixture of the two), various special-purpose hardware blocks as well as multi-channel GDDR5 memory controller. The PS4 will come with 8GB of unified GDDR5 memory sub-system (with 176GB/s bandwidth) for both CPU and GPU as well as large-capacity hard disk drive.

Sony PS4 will be equipped with Blu-ray disc drive capable of reading BDs at 6x and DVDs at 8x speeds, USB 3.0 connectivity in addition to a proprietary aux port, Gigabit Ethernet port, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1 EDR wireless technology as well as HDMI, optical and analog outputs. The new system will also utilize new DualShock 4 game controller with integrated touchpad as well as better motion sensing thanks to new PS4 tracking cameras (sold separately for $59).

When the PlayStation 4 will become available this year, it will be sold at a recommended retail price (RRP) of $399, CAD$399, €399, and £349.

Sony to announce more PS4 games at Gamescom

Gamescom is the European equivalent of E3 and Sony has always treated it with equal respect. Plenty of new games for PS3 were revealed at the event and it looks like the same thing will happen with the PS4.

Sony revealed a new IP called The Order 1886 at E3 and we’ve been wondering what their other first-party studios like Guerrilla Games, Naughty Dog, Media Molecule and others are doing. Well, it looks like we will finally know the answer to that at Gamescom.

SCEE’s Jim Ryan said in an interview that the company will be announcing more games for PS4 at the show. He also confirmed that the PS4 will be launching in Europe before Christmas 2013.

“30 new PS4 first-party games are in development and 12 of them are new IP’s,” he said. “There’s a lot going on, we need to keep stuff back. There’s Gamescom and we need to have something to show at Gamescom, don’t we?”

This is great news as there have been plenty of rumours that Sony is going all out when it comes to internal software support for the PS4 and hopefully we will see terrific games at the show which begins from August 21st and lasts till August 25th.

Jim Ryan also revealed in another interview that PS4 software bundles for Europe may be a possibility.

PlayStation 4 vs Xbox One: Which one has the better gaming controller?

The brutal rivalry between the Sony PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Xbox One is surely one of epic proportions. Specs sheets are being thrown left and right as arguments in favor of one console or the other, exclusive titles get analyzed and compared, while each company is using every possible occasion to strike at its opponent. Sometimes, though, we can get a bit carried away in our silly little arguments, focusing on small details that don’t always have a profound impact on our gaming experience. We do tend to forget the importance of some fundamental features of every game console, such as the controller.

In the case of the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4, we really have two very different gamepads that will surely make hacking and slashing your enemies that much different depending on which console you decide to side with. Let’s take a closer look at the expected pros and cons of both the Xbox One controller, and the PlayStation 4 controller, or the so-called DualShock 4!

1. Build quality
If there’s something characteristic about the Xbox controllers, it’s that despite their bulkiness, users simply find them very comfortable and reliable. Of course, we can’t be sure yet if this will be valid for the Xbox One’s controller in the long run, but if history is to repeat itself, then it means that the next-gen Xbox will easily win this one, as PlayStation controllers have traditionally been prone to various malfunctions after being subjected to some heavier usage (word has it that console controllers take the harshest beating right after a lost game).

2. Key layout and features
So, the standard buttons are present on both devices, including directional D-pad, dual analog sticks and four action keys, with the Xbox One controller keeping its characteristic positioning of the analogs. A new feature of the PS4 controller is the touchpad, positioned right in the center. While we aren’t really into that type of stuff, though, we won’t rush to draw a conclusion about its usefulness. Another change to the PS4 gamepad is that Sony has replaced the Start button with a Menu buttons, which seems to be quite similar in nature, while the new Share button will naturally let you share your numerous successes on the battlefield with your online buddies. Players will surely appreciate the fact that Sony has tried to make the analog sticks a bit more comfortable to use by giving them a bit of a concave shape and coating them with a finish that is less slippery.

Meanwhile, the Xbox One has this really cool new “HD rumble” effect feature that can make certain keys or parts of the gamepad vibrate, so that your attention is drawn to the desired control. In addition, Microsoft boasts a 15% increase in the speed of communication between the controller and the Xbox One, which should make for an even more responsive experience.

When it comes to power management, the Xbox One controller is still using AA batteries, but you can always connect it to the console in order to save power. On the other hand, the PlayStation 4 DualShock 4 controller comes with a soldered battery unit that can be recharged. Which solution would be more suitable for you depends on your gaming lifestyle, but it’s always a convenience when you don’t need to go to the nearby store when the batteries of your Xbox controller unexpectedly run out.

3. Your turn
So, now that we’ve gone through the most important aspects of the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 controllers, it’s your turn to tell us what you think of them. Sony has quite the legacy, but it can’t be denied that Microsoft is doing pretty well with its own controllers. Which one do you think will present gamers with a more refined experience – the Xbox One controller, or the PS4 DualShock 4? Be sure to cast your vote in the poll below and let us know!

[Friday Five] Reasons the PS4 is Still a Better Choice Than the Xbox One

I have a confession to make: I’m a Sony fanboy. I’ve owned Sony consoles almost exclusively since the PSX. With Microsoft’s recent announcement of their change of plans regarding DRM for the Xbox One, it would seem that the console is now a legitimate competitor to the PS4 and I’m getting a bit worried for the electronics giant. After all, it has Twitch integration, a better launch lineup, and a bevy of announced exclusives that make Knack and Killzone: Shadow Fall hardly seem like the system sellers they should be. Despite all that, I’m still confident that the PS4 has some strengths that make the system superior to the next Microsoft system and will make it sell.

More Power

Sure, it hardly matters when it comes to third party titles, but let’s not forget that the PS4 is a much more powerful system with its 8 GB of GDDR5 ram. The potential is there, but we just have to wait for developers to utilize it. The difference will hardly be noticeable in the beginning, but I’m sure that will change down the line. When more exclusives start coming, there should be a stark difference between how PS4 titles will look as compared to the Xbox One’s titles. Speaking of which…

Better Exclusives Down the Line

Shooter fans may welcome the return of the Halo franchise to Microsoft’s next system, but it was hardly unexpected. On top of that, Forza? Really? Any racing game fan knows that the Gran Turismo series outshines it in every way possible. For core gamers, let’s not forget Naughty Dog. This studio has shown so much growth since the days of Crash Bandicoot to now, creating blockbuster titles Uncharted and the recent critically successful The Last of Us. I get the chills just thinking about what they will be able to make with the PS4 and I await it eagerly.

Remote Play

Though it was available on the PS3, remote play via the PSP was a hardly used by anyone who cared for precision in their games. However, it seems that lag will be eliminated for the most part in Sony’s next system, much like the case with the Wii U. On top of that, it seems that Sony is requiring most studios to make use of it, meaning that the few who did jump onboard to buy a Vita will be rewarded handsomely. I’m not going to mince words here – I’m lazy and would like to stay on my bed as much as possible; the Wii U already gives me that, so I’m just waiting for Sony to do the same.

Indie Support

Sony realizes the importance of indie titles and have shown them full support with their next console. Even in their E3 press conference, where Sony was supposed to show off their biggest guns, they showed off ten titles. Many of these, like Outlast and Don’t Starve, already have a huge following on PCs and will reach an even larger audience on consoles. As an indie game lover myself, I’m ecstatic to see a company support indie games to the fullest. To sweeten the deal, Sony even allows indie developers to self publish, meaning that we get the full breadth of their creativity without any corporate control. When creative indie developers have control over their products, the consumers win.

All this for $399

Alas, I must mention the price tag. With Sony’s last console launching at $499 and $599 for the 20GB and 60GB models respectively, it was a tough buy. The Xbox One’s launch price of $499 is certainly fair, but Sony’s upcoming, more powerful console launching at $399 is an absolute steal. Who can forget the thunderous roar from the crowd when Sony announced their console’s price at E3? Sure, it might have been a move to simply one-up Microsoft, but, again, consumers win. They’re getting a great deal for a great system. I can buy another game and a year of PlayStation Plus with the extra money.

Microsoft’s Xbox One is hardly out for the count, especially when we consider the new announcement regarding their DRM plans. However, Sony’s console definitely edges out as the clear winner when it comes down to it. I’m sticking with Team Sony for the next console war and I have no doubts about the console’s success.

PS4 PlayStation Plus Details: Cross Game Chat doesn’t require the service

We have some new details on PS Plus for the PS4. It will be required to play online but not for free-to-play games or MMOs. One subscription will grant access to all accounts on that system.

Cross game chat and other media functions won’t require the subscription. This includes services like Netflix.

Games will be added and removed just like the current subscription on PS3 and you will be getting one new PS4 game every month. It’s not clear whether it would be a PS Plus edition like DriveClub which has altered content.

The subscription isn’t required for automatic updates. It will cost $50 or $5 per month. It’s something you pay for PS Plus already on PS3 so it really isn’t a surprise.

The PS4 will be released sometime later this year and according to some retailer listings in Europe, it could be out on November 13. However, Sony has said that it’s just a placeholder date.

Can't speak for console owners, but still- sacrificing 60 fps for better physics, particle effects and a constant 30 fps seems to be an okay tradeoff.

Too bad sony's shitty policies ensure that I won't be buying this console.

Just reinforces my belief that they aren't really focusing on Japan.

If the Wii U can achieve 1080/60 in all its second batch games (barring TLoZ:TWWHD) there is no reason the PS4 can't.

Well, sony is able to launch here because they already have a consumer electronics division the PS4 can piggyback along and they can simply launch the european version here without worrying about localization.

1. Japanese games > Indian games
2. Sony forcees achievements.
3. Sony pushes games that have mediocre to horrible gameplay(or no gameplay at all in some cases) and poor level design masked with set pieces and cinematic bullshit that sony seems to be pushing.
4. You have to pay sony repeatedly to have access to your entire game that you have already paid for.
5. Sony has removed features after launch through a firmware update.
6. Sony is trying to trojan despicable practices(see pt. 4) through a seemingly attractive package.

How are sony's policies better again? The only despicable thing that Nintendo does that I can think of would be region locks. (They did a Wii U-turn on their Lets Play policy apparently).

[Phoronix] Sony's PlayStation 4 Is Running Modified FreeBSD 9

Won't be surprised if Sony gives nothing back in return to Open Source, as always. Even PS3 ran on modified NetBSD, I think. Coding your own OS doesn't make sense, but if you are using somene else's work, should contribute back a bit. At least Microsoft uses their own OS. Even Apple uses BSD, but I can name a lot of things they give back.

tell that to the genius who thinks this is a attack sony thread.

I expect 10 -11 k of Duty/Tax/VAT to be put on it

the ps4 will be considered as a laptop, hence whatever duties are applicable on a laptop if i am not wrong 5% vat and additionally 16.5% duty on the ps4

so basically, a 400$ usd will cost 400x60 = 24k ( 1.165) = 27.96 .

This is the cost price for sony india. adding freight charges ( 500rs / piece ) and their own profits ( 5k ) = 35k. Add vat. 5% of 35-28 = 350

therefore it should be in the range of 35k

however it is important to keep in mind that sony will be importing pieces in 1000 pcs lots. Not individual pieces. Therefore the actual cost price to sony india including all duty and customs and shipping should run to about 28k. This is including 5k profit / piece... so i expect the sale price of the ps4 to be near about 30k mark

however you also take into account us$ will go upto 65. So another 2k hence should sell 32.5kish.

wait...

when i bought the PS3 for 18K, i paid that 16% duty shyt?????

or is it for the specially for the PS4?

u did pay 16% duty. but this is keeping in mind duty for individual items. if you import 1000s of pcs in 1 go your evaluation cost goes down. You cant claim that the ps3 retail price is 299$ hence duty will be paid on that amount.

i checked again, its 25% now.
