the headphones have an open cup design which allows for greater nc.
40mm drivers are really powerful.(awesome deep bass and treble)
noise cancellation circuit also doubles up as a headphone amp.
headphone also works without batteries or nc off but then the volume level drops significantly and they sound a bit like sennheiser hd 201. turn the nc switch on and boom! you're back at the imax theater.
big leather ear cups block a lot of noise passively and the nc circuit actively removes the rest.
the head band is spring loaded to ensure a snug fit.
these are really soft and comfy but you will sweat a bit after 2 hours since the cups are air tight.
headphone can be easily folded and is metal clad for strength and they do feel expensive.
they can also be used for dj monitoring. batteries sit in the left ear cup and so you don't have to carry the huge nc circuit dangling around in the middle of the cord like other nc headphones.
you can use the headphones even without any sound source like ipod, mobile etc. or any wire connected.(like wireless headphones)
just put em on and as soon as you turn nc on, all the ambient sound disappears like magic (180° phase shift)
these are best suited for studying in a noisy environment (without music) and movies, since then you will be able to hear every note that you previously couldn't.
accessories include
leather pouch (shown below the phones)
audio chord 1.5mt but you can also use your own
airplane adaptor (not shown)
cons: the headphones hate drafts of air. like the sound of air that falls on your ears from the ceiling fan. the phones will try to remove that sound and end up in producing unwanted extra low frequency dabbing sounds (thanks 40mm driver)
they leak sound externally and give back noise to others who were previously responsible
for creating the noise.
will not block sudden and extra loud sounds of say the horn of a truck passing right next to you.(that sound will be blocked partially and will sound muffled)
blocks only external sounds which means it will not block sounds originating from your scalp (you scratch your head and you will hear it through internal heating) actually none of the nc headphones are able to achieve that degree of nc and i may be asking for too much here.
they need two AAA size batteries to work and i still haven't found the rechargeable types.
makes you forget about all of your past headphones and gives you a bad allergy towards any other headphones except Bose nc headphones.
available at flip kart for around 3k
i got them from croma(last piece)
