No there is no good android phone with that screen size in that budget, the deal you are getting is good, I think you should get it.

Explorer
First of all it is LWW not LIW
Obviously LWW is better because it has got or will get ICS update, it has got a better processor, better screen, better internal memory and lil better build quality

Stuck with these three finally -

1) Motorola Fire XT @ Rs. 8900
3) LG Optimus Net @ 8700
2) HTC Explorer @ Rs. 8000

Main thing to know:
a) Battery
Does the 1540mAh / 1500mAh battery of Fire XT / Optimus Net makes any difference, as compared to 1230mAh of Explorer?

b) User Experience:
Is there anybody here who has first hand experience of all of them, and recommend any one of them? If so, why?

c) Is there any known serious problem in any of them?
(e.g. reboot problem in Defy +)

Other things to know:
a) Build quality (chipset and processor):
Qualcomm MSM7227T-1 chipset of FireXT against Qualcomm Snapdragon S1 MSM7225A of Explorer and MSM7227T of Optimus Net.
800 MHz processor of Fire XT vs 600 MHz processor of Explorer / Optimus Net.

b) Internal memory:
90 MB appears too less on Explorer as compared to 150MB on Fire XT / Optimus Net. Comments?

c) Screen:
165ppi screen against 180 ppi screen? Does the 3.5" screen wins over the ppi?

Overall, is it worth to spend Rs. 700 / 900 extra for Optimus Net / Fire XT over the Explorer?

Well I think the Explorer is a better option. But if you interested in gaming the Net is not a bad choice. The higher clock will help.

Well, I am not into gaming that much.

I am a bit biased to the Motorola Fire XT, because of the higher clock, and better battery. Being a noob in android, I might be wrong. That's why I asked in this forum.

Is there any particular reason for preferring the Explorer?

Thanks in advance.

Explorer
The screen of Explorer is the best part, its touch as well as resolution is quite when we compare to other phones in that price bracket.

Haven't compared critically with both in hand, but Optimus Net display is as good if not better than the Explorer. In fact many have praised its display. 1500 battery is definitely a bonus. So is AF cam. If it gives the same performance as with the Optimus One, its better than average for an Android phone. IMHO Net is a better option in all ways except that it isn't a very good looking device. Explorer looks better, esp. in gold and black.

I too have the same predicament
LG Optimus Net or Net Dual
vs
HTC Explorer

Motorola Fire XT am ruling out after trying it out extensively in the showroom and finding ridiculous lag in it and very bad screen response.
the experience while typing and entering even numbers in the phone dialer was very slow even after using advanced task manager to kill all background apps.

Otherwise it seems to be the perfect phone on paper.
Is there any owner of the Fire XT here who can say his opinion here.

@debu
do you need single SIM or dual? If you need dual sim get the Optimus Net Dual. No other Android is even close with multi sim.

Obviously something wrong with the showroom piece. I'v tried it out myself in shops and did not find significant lag. However, its not a very good phone overall. Reviews are also not so good. Optimus Net screen is better and its a better phone overall. However, Fire XT looks better than other phones in its class.

Thanks for all the help my friends. I really appreciate your advice.

Yesterday, I spent around 3 hours in Reliance digital, to have a look at all the 3 phones I shortlisted. Finally, I have decided to buy LG Optimus Net P690, and I am going to order soon, within a next couple of hours, at Flipkart.

As mentioned earlier, Motorola Fire XT has the best look and the best hardware spec among these 3, so I was quite biased towards this one. However, on seeing the phone personally, I didn't like it. It was the screen that put me off. Visibly low resolution, less responsive. Lacks the crispiness. I didn't want it.

So, there remained LG Optimus Net P690 and HTC Explorer. Both have good chipsets, Optimus has better processor (800MHz vs 600 MHz), both have same GPU, Optimus has a better battery capacity(1500mAh vs 1230mAh) [battery life?], Optimus has higher internal memory (150mb vs 90mb). The screen on both, though, theoretically same [3.2"], LG wins here because of more crisp display, and Explorer has less 'available' screen due to touch buttons. I also found that typing was easier on Optimus Net as compared to HTC Explorer. There were physical buttons for the commonly used items also - bonus. Overall, I personally liked the user interface of LG Optimus Net as compared to HTC Explorer.
Optimus Net has way better development and support as compared to HTC Explorer. So, I personally preferred LG Optimus Net, after seeing both of them.

Well, the LG Optimus Net doesn't look good, has a cheap feeling, plastic body. But, looks don't matter for me. It has low speed 3G - then again I doubt if that counts for me.

The screen of Explorer is the best part, its touch as well as resolution is quite when we compare to other phones in that price bracket.

After checking both critically in the shop demo, I found Optimus Net is better, personal opinion though.

Agreed. I decided on Optimus Net finally, see above.

No, Optimus Net has a better screen than Fire XT, and regarding XCD35, this --->

I also checked all of them in the showroom, and quite extensively. In Fire XT, there was no lag as such, but overall responsiveness was less as compared to the other two. Background apps were off.
