Hi Guys,

I recently (today) bought a 46" LED TV and would like to know what size movie rips should I need to look for when I want to watch it on this.

Also for 3D content what kind of specs do I need to check for the movie clips?

Congrats on the purchase. :)

Rip can be of any size. Its the resolution that matters.

You should be looking for a resolution of 1920*1080, also called 'FullHD', if your tv is FullHD or 1366*768 if your tv is 'HD ready'.

3D content viewing depends on both the tv set and the video feed. It'd be better to make suggestions if you could post a link to the tv you bought.

It should be a designated BR file. That is about it. At a distance it will look just dandy. 1080pi is the minimal resolution. Size would not really matter.

Thanks!

Source Video File eg Movies.Music Vids.etc

BTW For Proper 3D Movie Experience you will need a decent 3D Bluray Media Player.

Video fees means the source of the video. Like a file or your DVD/BD player.

Looks like the Tv does not support 3D content.

Till I get hold of an either PS3 or Media Player or Blu Ray Player need to adjust with rips from either friends or off the internet.

As mentioned in the post right now I don't have any Players.
Correction TV does support 3D format.

3D movies also work nice with PS3.

No PS3 yet.

Resolution matters but not a priority...

the main thing to look is video bitrate the higher the bitrate the clear the video

Blu-Ray Rips are very good & small in size...but a untouched Blu-Ray (25~50GB) always wins in quality...

therefore, video bitrate >> resolution (1080p)

even 720p videos looks superb in 46" LCD/LED

@ ajay - if your viewing distance is about 8-12ft, what zangetsu has written above holds true ! also, even DVD movies, given a good bitrate, would look good.

IMO at least look for 2K+ size videos. Bitrate matters and higher bit rate equals to heavy Files. well other thing is MKV & mp4(x264) container can have higher bitrate at low size.

So look for 720P at least & with higher bitrate as possible. roughly size would 2K+

As 22inch LCd also has 1080P and 46inch one too. Higher bitrate will be more significant when you have large size LCD's... Higher you go on LCD size, Bitrate matter most.

Edit: By 2K I meant 2GB

well upscale means re-sizing video to higher resolution. many lcd-dvd-blue ray player has this option.. to upscale DVD(720x480) or any other low resolution video to HD, Video quality will be little better then original DVD video but no where near comparing to actual HD videos

^basically who don't know or haven't seen BluRay videos can't make a difference in upscaled video...

they will think upscaled is the top quality.

@ajayritik: once u see the full HD video. u won't like upscaled ;)
