but its far from finish.. i have to make a cabinet from sheet metal. and thats the hardest part. the measurement need to be accurate, or it wont fit in the 5.25" bays.

Well I took a print out on a paper and place this on the copper clad board and iron the print out sheet. Then dip the board in some solution I forgot. The copper etched and the copper below that black area remains. This is how I did my home PCB, how u have understand . Lets hear it from him how he did

heres what i do..

i take the mirrored print on a glossy paper [magazine/instant photo paper] from a laser printer. laser printers use toners, which is essential.
align the print over a copper board [toner in contact with copper] and iron it. toner melts and gets transferred to the copper.
then dip it in HCl+H2O2 soln [1:2 ratio]. i use this soln coz the chems are easy to procure and it etches damn fast. faster than FeCl3 soln. the portion covered by toner does not etch, while the uncovered Cu gets etched.
take it out of the soln, wash with water, and drill the holes.
and thats it.

yep, but the autorouting algo is too simple for complex boards. sometimes it just struggles when there are simple alternative available.
i route manually.

^^ thanks for explaining. i never used that way before, probably because laser printers were not as much available back then. all we used is cheap rs5/- nailpolish bought in mela and sometimes ohp marker pens. none of them were perfect like this.

@anirbandd good method bro.

@icebags the toner powder from the printer gets stuck to paper by heating. so a reverse process makes the toner gets stuck to the copper board. the ferric chloride solution will not etch the toner part cause fecl3 is dissolves the copper in the plate and toner layer protects copper from chemical reaction.

Hopefully i start building my own boards, projects and hacks again

i thought of that, but abandoned the idea.
coz i need a top open enclosure, and front closed with holes for the pots.
the drives are top closed and front is hard plastic, non workable. also, the metal used in drives is too hard to work on.

but mainly, there is nothing like the satisfaction of using a self made indigenous product

got a 3m HDMI v1.4a cable from ebay for 629/- (from the seller 'cables, etc.'). seemed like a good deal, and i needed one, though not necessarily v1.4. of late, i have noticed that shipping times have improved on ebay. most of the things i order are coming in at blitz speed! and while providing feedback to sellers, the option where one has to provide stars to the seller for 'shipping-time' is not available for you to fill up, as according to ebay 'the seller exceeding ebay's requirement on that'. did ebay ask sellers to improve their shipping time recently?
