That 'a lot of energy wasted' hardly translates into 20-30 watts. Which translates into Rs. ~300 spent more in a year compared to LED-backlit if you run your monitor ON (not stand by) 24x7x365.

No one really runs their monitor ON 24x7x365. Energy 'savings' are overhyped. Seriously.

LCD-CCFL and LCD-LED...The difference is not negligible that you shouldn't even talk about it

LED is preffered for its extra luminance. This is the first time I have heard someone state lower power consumption in their favour. At most you will spend Rs.30-50 more over 5years on the LCD-CCFL
