Phone at maximum 13k.

Ok, so at the Budget of 13k max, i want a TFT capacitive bar touchscreen phone with size as as big as budget approves. Min 3in though.
I want a android os, and as long as a phone's not el-chepo China made, i am fine with it.

Camera has to be minimum 3.15mp, with secondary camera not a compulsion. Wlan & 3G are must.
The phone would be used basically for making calls (duh!),txting, and snapping pictures and videos, and a wee bit of net surfing aswell.

The mobile phones I have considered are
*LG OPTIMUS (prime,hehe) ONE [P500]
*SE VIVAZ (with prices lately fallen, a good phone with ugly os)
*SE XPERIA x10/x8, i am confused, whichever is cheaper.
*and something from samsung.

Other info I'd like to share is i could not copy-paste the questionair as m surfing through mobile, so my deppest apologies. Also, i like to eat crayons.

Oh, and I am planning to buy the phone in next 1-2 week.

From your three options I pick - Optimus One, as my suggestion.
Also, if you can increase your budget, say by 1-1.5 k, you can take a look at Samsung Galaxy Ace.

Xperia X10 is a nice phone but will exceed ur budget,will cost around 20K...
I would suggest u to wait for Wildfire S,it will be out soon and will be available around 15K...

Next, i'v been waiting for more than a month now and i think waitin for a new phone to launch is quite pointless as a better phone would always be released the next day.

For galaxy ace, depends on u. Galaxy ace has a better cam(which u have stated as 1 of ur requirements). Other than that i don't think it justifies the price difference of 5k with o1

Larger reservoir of battery juice (though Ace can last one day with moderate use)

And for future prospective, LG promised android 2.3 for Optimus One. So this too adds to Optimus One's advantage.

cheap or not. a good phone will always be good. if you can't use it properly, whats the use of wasting money there? Vivaz is so old & runs Symbian (Crap).

ask the same thing to yourself but in a slightly different manner: is it worth spending the extra 4-4.5k on Ace over O1? answer is simply No.

Getting back on track, let me put 2 phones on table.

LG O1 against SE Viraz
.
So we have a 130 gram phone against a 97gm.
256k colours against 16m.
A mere 2gb free memory card against a modest 8gb.
A 3MP camera against a 8MP.
A 600Mhz cpu vs 700Mhz.
Not to forget...
A 18 fps vga video recorder against a gut-busting, eyebrow-raising, crank-shafting, face-moping, as$-kicking, holy-manoly 720p@24 fps recorder.

One can bear the thought to have a stupid symbian os in his mobile, but i dont think anyone in his sane mind would overlook all the pros mentioned above just for the great Froyo.

The best thing is that i'l get viraz at under 10k.

Now, sir, can you put below the points that'd change my mind towards O1.

For under 10k vivaz is a good option. But everything mainly & always comes down to software dept. After using android, symbian is like completely unusable. But vivaz scores in h/w. Tough call.

if camera iyour top priority then keep your existing phone and get a good PnS digicam. vivaz might score in camera department but that os is lot more stale than nokia S60 or S3 when compared to android. if you get vivaz, you will be happy for few minutes or seconds in a day when you take pictures but cursing when you are using the phone for everything else (compared to android).

If camera is the utmost priority, you better increase your budget to ~15k for Nokia C6-01. Camera-wise it's same as SE Vivaz, but interface-wise (or OS-wise) it's much better. Also, C6-01 has some possibility of upgradation to - Symbian "Anna", which is said to be as close as iOS and Android in terms of usability.

If you mainly need a phone to take snaps, get a digi cam as desiibond said. Otherwise you need camera as one of the option and want a robust phone with lot of useful features get O1.

Now make your choice.

How about you spend 10k on LG Optimus One and 5k on a half decent Canon Digicam and life peacefully .

A490 is a decent option if you want to take pictues when you hang out with your friends . Its a very good camera for its price . But its no world beater .

@sam-ahh...you've come long way since i first saw you. Its nice to see that. Thanks for your advice though.
Right now, i am using n79 symbian s3. I know its sucks balls on application department. But it is not like totally unusable or user-friendly.
Ok i haven't been exposed to miracles of android yet,(i haven personally used it.) but still i am happy with how phone works.

@naino-err....i think its TfT Capacitive. Infact with better colours than O1. Infact with better resolutions than O1, mind you. Infact with stuider and better screen than O1. Infact in less cost than O1. And i dont think i could really convince myself or my father to spend 5k bucks more for more or less the same thing.

@desibond-yea, i guess i will suffer with stupid symbian. But how do expect me to overlook everything viraz has to offer just for android. I mean like i already said, i have a symbian and yea it sucks but not so much that i'd throw away my phone, or in this case buy a under-performer phone.

So in short, dont just assume that i love viraz for its amazing camera. Look at all the things it has to offer.
Or give me sufficient proof that android is so good that it is worth buying over such a nice phone like viraz.

Better camera + slightly higher processor speed doesn't justify you to buy vivaz. The raw processing power will be wasted by Symbian once you install many apps.

Look at the app support and the user base of android within a short span of time. Usability, Customizing power and all most, you can manage your memory in android by killing task's but i don't know about Symbian that much, but since using my brother's C6 for quite some time, i can say it sucks. To even load Applications menu it's taking too much time to open.

Look Symbian OS is at it's death bed and will die anytime soon once Nokia starts to market meego and W7. IIRC sometime back samsung calls all symbian developers to join with them to develop Bada OS ( Another big joke).

If still you say, "How can i convince my dad blah,blah" then here, go get that Viraz, if you feel it as a no-regret phone.

symbian is best for non-touchscreen mobile. Android suites touchscreen.
Talking about software side of android, its highly modular & userfriendly. custom roms just double the freedom to customize it. Symbian fails here. But android is fragmented. Manufacturer are late in releasing update. Then dev community comes into play.

About h/w, yes o1 falls short of vivaz. But will you click pics daily with your mobile? o1 cam is just average. Not unusable. Screen resolution & colour are low. Processor is slower. But whats the use of good hardware if the software is a total letdown. you'll use the mobile as a whole, not part by part.

Great hardware of SE Vivaz or great OS of LG Optimus One. People here will be posting their personal opinions, but it is you who has to choose.

Having said that, my Nokia 5800 still does the job for me even after 2 years.

Its the user's choice what he wants . If he can not overlook the camera and be happy with the limited number of applications then Viraz is his choice.

If you want a phone which has lots of customization and lots of applications the Optimus one is the one for you.

Write down what you want in your new phone and then compare . Hope that helps
