I have now given up on Nokia's N-Series design team :(

Me too. Nokia N79 was a bit different as it is the smallest & sleekest N Series phone out there but that's it.

Nokia should hire the designers at SE or Motorola.:D

N86 looks like an attempts from Nokia to play catchup. There is no good phone at Nokia booth in MWC 2009

True. Nokia N79 is the only N-Series phone which I can consider buying currently.... only considering the design & looks.

nokia is not playing catchup. Now they have come out with 8mp device they really are putting some very good optics there unlike others. It was suppose to be called n85 8mp but they now have changed it to n86 8mp.

Looks very tempting. I might get it when it comes out in jun this yr. There is a lot of improvement in n86 over n85 with major one being in build quality, using metal parts. Although all these improvements looks tiny to eye they are indeed very handy like the kickstand for watching videos like n96 has. Now only it had xenon + led flash then it could have been a complete package as far as features go.

Nothing is perfect but N86 is not even that close to being a worthy upgrade over current Nokia Phones or any other phone. 8 MP is good, but that is the only good thing about it.

Thank goodness Nokia introduced the 5800 !! Otherwise I would have definitely abandoned Nokia :))

Now after using the 5800, I can only buy touch phones from now onwards.... because any non-touch phone I get in my hands, my reflex takes me to touch its icons on its screen... only to then realise that its not a touch phone.

I have now stopped looking at phones like N86 because no matter how feature packed it is, I cannot do without Touch. And the only "substantial" part where the N86 beats the 5800 is the camera.

Camera-wise N86 8MP seems to shorten the distance to point-and-shoot digicams quite successfully

It's camera performance is yet to stand trial by fire but the specs look just impressive.

You forgot to add the next line by gsmarena. They seem to be hell bent on licking Nokia's a$$. Haven't even tried the cam and they are talking ****.

btw, its releasing in june, and by then the C905 will be around the same price. Xenon flash makes all the difference. And putting the C905 beside it, I dont think the average user would even contemplate on getting this one.

This phone will NOT be less than 25K.

Variable aperture will help to control the amount of light i.e. we can expect very good photographs in low light conditions and indoors. Thats really one step close to the Digicams. :) I say 29-30K for this phone.

^^And a QWERTY keyboard. :(
This is a different phone. Not targeted specifically towards those people who require a QWERTY keyboard.

Have you seen the C905 screen?? Put it beside any OLED screened phone. rust me, you will be screech to see the difference. The average user who doesnt need symbian will vouch for the C905. Also, the price of Innov8 will come down. The Innov8 offers everything and more to what the N86 offers, and also looks wayy better.

+1

The size and weight of the phone matters too which will increase if qwerty is added. If any1 needs qwerty then go for E Series phones . N series phones were never meant to hav qwerty coz they r not targetted towards dat segment of people.nokia added qwerty in N97 only Becoz of increased competition .

which xpressmusic phone ?

and if not put qwerty keyboard in higher end phones, the least nokia can do is to release tiny connectable mini qwerty keyboards for their existing phones.

and if weight is a concern, they can also have touchscreen phones with on-screen keyboards. currently nseries are called multimedia smartphones but typing an article on an nseries phone is HELL from personal experience. even 4.3k blackberries have qwerty keyboards for heaven's sake.

Or they can atleast provide a touchscreen with virtual keyboard.

Nokia 5800 with an on-screen QWERTY keyboard.

Connectible? Nokia SU-8W QWERTY wireless keyboard. But it is not that small. Though 'Mini' keyboards are available from other companies for Nokia (may be hard to find in India).

T9? I can type faster with T9 than on a mobile QWERTY keyboard.
For a QWERTY keyboard, you better have a look at the E series.

Moreover, QWERTY keyboard would have increased the price of this phone and generally people don't feel it as a major requirement in a mobile. Those who feel buy the E series phones.
