New Thread for a new phone 11-14.5k budget

Peak Oil is real!
@rohan_mhtr

My dad bought an iPad last week. He also owns an iPhone 3GS. I agree with you that Apple products have very good built quality and overall experience. You know it when you use it...

To tell you the truth, you might be slightly uncomfortable while using Android. Its complicated... Turning off Wifi, 2G, GPS when not using it might seem odd. You have to close apps in the background... especially battery hog apps like Google Maps, Goggles, Camera app... That is the price you pay for true multitasking...

You never do that in an iPhone. The experience is very different.

I have used my friend's Incredible S. It seems slower than my modded Optimus One. UI not fluid enough. Coming from an iPod touch, you would feel a lot of difference.

Android is good. Very flexible. Highly customizable. Open to custom ROMS.

If you are ready to experiment and are willing to trade off the polish of iPhone for flexibility of Android, then go for Defy.

But if that is not what you are looking for, you should get an iPhone 3GS.

Cheers!

LOL , thinking about buying Defy . But honestly we people do think twice before spending 15k on spice . How many people here have actually used MI410 ?

I would have considerd it if its pricing was anything around 16k mark . And remember i am shifting from ipod touch's IOS and sound output was also my top priority just not looks and flaunts . But again i needed a good OS too and hence android . People who have used IOS before for a long duration would understand my dilemma !

@Vaibhav , thanks for your post , It was the most helpful . Tomorrow i will check the pricing of defy with my local dealer first . Online option would be second if the price difference is high . Also how is the sound quality via headphones , i mean is it loud enough ? I travel by mumbai locals to my office hence they need to be loud .

Given that your budget is around 20k and that you are interested in Defy, think about this package:

1. Motorola Defy: approx 15k
2. Brainwavz M3 IEM (with very good noise isolation): 3.5k-4k or M2 for 2.5k-3k
3. Fiio E5 headphone amp: 1k approx

I already have Philips SHE9800 in-ear headphones . Will i need an external amp ? I am not an audiophile but would like loud output .
Today i will be checking out both defy and mi410 , BTW the spice is hard to find in local shops here in navi mumbai . Will try reliance digital this evening .

sud we consider Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 or LG Optimus One P500 an alternative choice?

Oh dude check other threads where so many people are against ACE!!! ACE @ 13.5k aint worth AT ALL with so many not-so-great-features at the price point!!

After much thinking and researching i havent yet come to a decision . so i have decided to increase my budget to around 16.5k but i have still not found any other alternatives .
This is what i have considered so far
Moto defy Rs 14800 from local dealer + 8gb card Rs 500 + fiio headphone amp if required Rs 1000 = Rs 16300 total
OR
Spice Mi410 Rs 13300 local outlet + 16Gb card Rs 1500 + fiio headphone amp if required Rs 1000 = Rs 15800 total

Moto pros : Gorilla glass , better support , better camera , better Sound , Rugged , battery , slightly better looks
Cons : 3.7 'screen compared to 4.1 of spice , slightly lesser hardware but good for me
Spice pros : large screen good for PDF's , Better hardware
cons : support , still camera , battery , display colour n material
Really confused , please suggest your options .

Defy without a doubt. I am surprised that you are still not convinced with it.

I have handled both Spice and the Defy. Spice just doesn't seem right. It is trying to be a jack of all trades, and failing at that. Defy on the other hand looks and performs much better. For around 15k, there are no other better options for an android phone.
