Hey pals..... need some suggestion from u all

My config is in my sig . Now i am not a hardcore gamer but then there are certain games i want to play . Bought COD4 yesterday n after seeing the demo's performance i was nearly sure that i can play it pretty smoothly. But things went wrong when i played the full version. I don get anything more than 15 FPS, while the demo gave a constant 22+ FPS. So going in for more RAM will let me play it smoothly or buying a GPU?????

Current budget is too low......roughly 3k for either of them.
Getting ZION 1GB sticks for 1.4 K ( Will buy 2 Sticks)
Getting 8400GS 512mb for 3.2K

So please help me chose which one should i invest in???? Moreover ram prices are at a all time low..... but then increasing ram may not solve the problem..... i am confused please help.....

I want to play COD4 n Assassin's Creed when it gets released( 12-2-2008 )

Expecting some suggestions

8400 GS.Your RAM will be petty good for games like COD4 and Assassin's Creed.

Will 8400GS run COD4 decently...... i am not an eye candy fan but then it shud not look absolutely crappy.....
and moreover are u sure 1gb ram wil suffice for Assassin's creed????

u can get XFX 8500GT 256 for some 3.1k
or an HD 2400 for 3.2k.
8500GT is 2x better than 8400GS.
8400Gs can surelly handle COD4 at moderate details, but i doubt bout assasin creed. But sure 8500GT can handle asssin creed much better.
as prices are high at ur area, XFX 8500GT cud cost u as much as 3.5k, but its worth it.

i dun think ram price will shoot, nd instead the price of 800Mhz is goin to fall nd will be same as 667, nd 667 ll be outaa market[like 533 did].

And with the arrival of new DDR3, DDR2 prices will fall further.

Are u sure wid entry of DDR3 prices of DDR2 wil fall???? Coz when DDR2 entered the market both the prices of DDR n DDR2 were nearly same....

AS a matter of fact DDR is currently more expensive than DDR2.

If you can afford get a 8500 GT. Sparkle I have no clue. You can opt for Galaxy, XFX or Gigabyte. X200 is way to outdated to play any current game.

If you are really that short on budget then I'd say go for the card as RAM won't make that huge difference as it would do for a graphic card.I could recommend a minimum of 8600GT but then again we have a restricted budget.Bear in mind that both 8500GT & 8400GS entry level cards which could just run the game at minimum settings.I could say save up a bit more & invest in some mid range card later on.

Sparkle is a good brand. My Friend owns a 8800GTS Sparkle card working flawlessly.

RAM prices rising would depend upon the DDR III technology of RAM chips availibility & pricing. If that starts falling then you can expect a slight rise in DDR II prices in a few months.Nothing huge though.

So my pick would be the graphic card.:)

Yes, 8600 GT will definitely offer decent performance on games like COD4 with all eye-candy ON....
if u OC it a little then u can play Crysis @ 1024*1028 with ALL SETTINGS TO HIGH except Antialiasing turned off
