I've created a partition (A:\) and I wanted to keep it hidden from other people who will use my PC.
I am administrator of the PC and my account is password protected while other account is Standard User without any password..
To keep my files safe, I've removed everyone else in the 'Security' tab of 'Properties' window.
Now it looks like this:

Is this best way to hide files and restrict access to them? Will anyone be able to access its contents from other account?
Awaiting reply.
Thanks.

To hide the drives: open regedit, goto HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer now create a new DWORD value NoDrives and set its value as 1, no one would be able to see the A:\, though they can access it by typing A:\ in the address bar..
For true hiding and access control, truecrypt is best option as suggested by gameranand.

Been There, Done That!!
Truecrypt..

Here-

But be cautious with TrueCrypt. If anyone gets access to the container file , say while someone else is using your PC with your account while you're out, it can be a nightmare.

One thing @OP, If you have created a separate drive only to hide files, why not deleting the drive letter from Disk Management . :D

When you again want to access the files, just assign the drive letter.

Considering the other users are not so tech geek. :)

@ratul
I know this trick, but users can access drive by entering drive letter, as you have already said.
On my PC, it looks like this if someone tries to access protected drive

What is difference between removing users entirely and denying permissions? Does denying offeres any advantage over removal of users?
& Disk Management is not accessible to other users ;)

To everyone who suggested TrueCrypt, I'm already aware of the software, but I wanted something simple and hassle free.

What about the search results? Will this drive be included in search results ?

I would actually prefer to have windows security and user permissions over hiding the drive.
Add all the users to security tab and specifically "deny access" works better.

compress the file, rename rar to .bmp.. compress again 7zip format, rename it to .pdf or something
remember the order of compression :p

Good.. Now can you tell me how to hide the drive letter and assign it back? (cmd commands)

Really simple just follow the steps
1. Open Disk Management
2. Right Click the Drive and select "Change Drive Letter and Path"
3. Then Click Remove on the next dialog box and confirm it.
4. Drive is hidden now. :)

Well I am not sure about the difference, I am saying this from my past experience. My logic about this, If you remove the users, it may happen like when other user is trying to access the folder, a user entry may be automatically created in the security tab and grant allow access(which is by default). But if you specifically add a user and deny the access, it cannot do anything. This may sounds dumb, but I could not find any better explanation.
