I am growing Deaf

I have been noticing that my right ear is loosing hearing abilities gradually. Even my left ear is not as strong as it was before, but the right is much weaker than the left, and when I listen to music in my MP3 Player I hear louder from left than right.

Can someone tell me how I can get back my senses ? I have seen people not loosing their hearing ability even though they listen to loud music on their iPods, but I listen to music in low volume below 80 Decibles. Why am I still being affected ?

I remember that half an year back, I used to sleep facing my right, with the earphones in my ear and my right ear being pressed to the pillow. Could this be the reason behind my deafness ?

Right now I am hearing more bass than treble through my PC. Is this also a symptom of deafness ?

Guys please help. I am already growing in power of my glasses. I am somewhere between -0.5 and -1.0. I have astigmatism on left eye. I have a small issue in my nose due to which left nostrill is bigger than the right on the inside since its somewhat caved into the right. With frequent nose blocks, seldom am I able to breath comfortably through the right. The last thing I want to loose now is my hearing sense.

This might have a lot to do with why you cannot hear properly from the right ear... Get yourself checked boy, for you are too young to suffer hearing problems...

Yep. Its all related. Here's something for a little proof. Pinch your nose shut and blow hard. You will notice that you are then cursing goobimama for blowing your ears out.

well, there comes a time when the wall of dirt in yer ear gets thick enough to make the person kinda deaf, so they do a water treatment, put syringe(without needle) filled with water and let the water go and come out bringing out the "kaan ka mael"

another thing could be your problematic headphones, meh i hate head/earphones, the riffing sounds absurd.

Accumulation of wax in the ear might cause differences in the hearing. I would suggest u get yourself checked by an ENT specialist at the earliest.

yeah nasal cavity and auditory tube are related, i remember from my biology lessons, thanks to Goobi for reminding it :)

remember when you take any liquid drops in eyes or year, chances are you can taste it passing through your throat, and that means it passed right along the nasal passage.

A 5-year-old girl was taken to the primary health care physician because she was having sore throat, high temperature and runny nose. Symptoms started a couple of days ago and her mother reported that she also complained of pain in the right ear at night. The doctor examined her tonsils and found them enlarged, and checked her ears with the otoscope and saw that both eardrums were congested and looked reddish especially on the right. He recommended decongestant medication and analgesics and requested to see the girl again a week later.

Questions to consider:

1. How would you explain the congestion of both eardrums?

The auditory (Eustachian) tube provides a passage for organisms to reach the middle ear from the nasal cavity. In children the tube is more horizontal and shorter than in adults, and therefore the possibility of spread is higher. One of the earliest signs of otitis media is congestion of the eardrum that may be seen easily with otoscope.

2. If the ear infection was not treated properly, what important anatomical structures are likely to be affected in the middle ear?

Neglected otitis media may lead to rupture of the tympanic membrane and loss of hearing. Ossicles may be involved, and that may lead to further deterioration of hearing. Infection may spread posteriorly to the mastoid air cells causing mastoiditis, with possible spread to the posterior cranial fossa and infection of meninges.

Same problem with me too. Only my right nostril is bigger than the left (on the inside, that is). About the ears, like the others, I'll suggest getting the ears cleaned.

Yeah they are inter related. Remember ENT? Ear Nose Throat. Get yourself checked by an ENT specialist.

Keep the earphones away for some days and meet an ENT now itself. He will be able to suggest more and analyze it.

Gautham for improving your eye vision eat loads of carrots and veggies, it really helps(My friend who used glasses always now uses glasses only for reading),

And your hearing problems go to an ENT ASAP.
