HDD noise problem- how to fix it

hey I am having a pc with harddisk 160 GB of WESTERN DIGITAL.
and i have used it for less then 2 years. but now a days i am getting noise from HDD whenever i start my PC or open MY COMPUTER (that shows the window of alll hard disk and other devices).Is it my HDD having bad sectors?? why there is crunchingor frinding type sound. is it going to crash ?? please tell me how to check my disk health and how to reduce its sound.

install & run software like crystaldiskinfo or hdtune to check your hdd health.

@ OP - backup all the data from the HDD and send the HDD for RMA.

well i have checked my HDD using WD Lifegaurd tool and smart toll it says tht HDD is in good health . But may be there r some bad sectors, Do bad sector can cause noise ? when ever i open MY computer icon the PC freezes for microseconds and thn a strange noise begin to start .. so ths noise is from HDD or FAN BOX ??

hey i got to know tht tha noise is actually from SMPS fan . HDD was too making sound but a very little. now what should i do ?? any idea?

First backup the data, next run a surface scan to check for bad sectors.

Lots of noise=motor prob/platter damges/reader head=Physical Malfunctioning!
