Man is it seriously so much difference in battery for 2.2 to 2.3?
Bt actually a good idea.. buy a big memory card and then shift to a better phone later.
Cos actually i really respect O1 its pretty cool phone for 10.5k bt to really enjoy the power of android maybe u need a better config phone. So im waiting for like HTC desire or arc to get cheaper!!!

Akshayt : Fully agree with you man !!

At least for Galaxy S i9000 with Gingerbread update 2.3.3:
if you go to office/work/college with a full battery in the morning, you can easily expect to be left with 30-50% battery with you exactly 12-14 hours later with moderate usage.

With Froyo, the battery was barely half this much.

For your budget, I would say go for a LG Optimus One P500 around 10.5 and save the remaining 4.5k and/or buy a 16gb microsd for around 1k. Then upgrade to a better phone after 6-9 months when the price becomes cheaper, 1 yr tops!

Yep...

Actually for the same thought... I decided to go for Optimus One. My initial plan is to go for Galaxy SL.

I got my O1 for 8.7 K. I just went for O1 because i dont felt Galaxy SL or any other high end is really worth for spending another 9k-10k above O1. For O1 at below 9K.. I would have went for Galaxy SL at max of 15k. I got defy for 14.5 K, had dilemma. But i am not convinced to go for it.

@Thread starter, If you are ok with Defy, go for it at 15K~ from letsbuy.com

And above is my thought to my financial status :p

I just got O1 and havent much played or browsed about it.
So, you tell us to upgrade O1 to Gingerbread ? Is it really that much batter saving ? :O

^^ I saw in desire S reviews that gingerbread actually drops the performance benchmark scores from froyo scores. Am sure about the battery part, but may be they are sacrificing a bit of performance to saving battery life(very good though actually. The phones are already powerful enough, androids need the battery :D)

And IMO... Defy for 14.5-15K is very good VFM also, and lot better than O1 (hardware wise). Android updates considered, Defy is frozen at Froyo (if India gets the update). While O1 can already go on to Gingerbread. :)

Yes.. Defy is better... But I had a dilemma, whether is defy is worth over O1 for the extra ~6.5 k ? And had fear over its battery, some reviews told it is below average.

where from?

Yes... from Letsbuy.com through 15% cash back coupon :)
