Compiz is the default window manager in Ubuntu 7.04
For beryl to fully work u need to download beryl, to do this open
System > Administration > Synaptic Package Manager
And click on the search button in Synaptic Package Manager
u will get return results
Select Beryl and mark it for installation.
Click on apply (u need to hav net connection)
Beryl will be installed automatically and u will get the notification of successful installation.
To start beryl press ALT+F2:
Type:
beryl-manager
A read diamond will come to system tray, thats it
After that, to create a desktop shortcut:
Use your text editor of choice to create a file named /usr/share/xsessions/Beryl.desktop.
$ sudo gedit /usr/share/xsessions/Beryl.desktop
Paste or type the following into it:
[Desktop Entry]
Encoding=UTF-8
Name=Beryl
Exec=/usr/bin/startberyl.sh
Icon=
Type=Application
save your file, and close your text editor.
restart the system or else press CTRL+backspace to restart X-session
