Hi all info. which might be helpful to yall :

1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Stupid answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work. Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.')

Ans: Having capability to handle and run games such as Battlefield 3, MW3, arma 2 series etc., Movies (HD), basic internet browsing

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.
Ans: 20k max.

3. Planning to overclock?
Ans: not required.

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans: windows 7 x64 ultimate, Linux

5. How much hard drive space is needed?
Ans: 250/320/500GB as per budget available; just for installing games/movies

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.
Ans: Yes. Umm..considering the budget how about a 18" or maybe ~20" LED monitor? (srry but am not aware of the current prices; EX-nehru place, delhi/NCR)

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans: need a bare minimum rig; Bugdet is quite low; would like to go with AMD here :-D how about the AMD's bulldozer series? DO NOT require speakers/UPS/CD-RWs and any such peripheral; just require the cabinet+SMPS+proc+mobo+ram+gfx card+keyboard+mice. Monitor too :-D am i still missing something here? please suggest.

8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: 1-2month's time.

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Ans: can do myself; possible only on weekends (shop+assembling )

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans: Noida; I can go to Nehru place (thx to metro in delhi )

11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans:been a badass gamer back in college days (miss 'em ) and thx to my recent job; busy with all the client side cr@p  never usually found some time out; so here it is; my ultra cheap gaming rig :-D

Dude i have a 35k dell inspiron pc still it cant run battlefield 3
and you want it to run in 20k

hey hang on
U got me wrong bro.:shock::mrgreen:

my dell "laptop" specs: i5 540m @ 2.4gh~2.9ghz(turbo boost), hd5650m 1GB, 3GB 1333mhz DDR3 RAM
and I can play it well on this config.

BUT the real deal here is.. I am here for a desktop config cmon' dekstop component prices are cheaper nowadays + I have local access to nehru plce, delhi  because I thought that if I get to upgrade my RAM on the laptop to a total of 6GB at just 1.2k for 4GB transcend 1333mhz RAM I would be pretty close to blowing up my laptop

First things first, your budget is way too low play BF3 even at the lowest possible settings I guess. And you need a HDD too at 20k. Here's the best possible config I could figure out.

Component Make Price
CPU AMD A6 3500 4,110
Motherboard Gigabyte GA-A55M-S2V 3536
RAM Corsair DDR3 4 GB 1220
HDD WD Scorpio Blue 250 GB 3890
Case Any cheap 800
PSU Zebronics 400w Platinum 1475
KB+Mouse Amkette ClASSIC DUO 383
Monitor BenQ 18.5 Inch GL930A 5400
TOTAL 20814

Don't confirm yet. Maybe somebody else will come up with a better one.

bro U got me wrong!!

desktop component prices are way too low + I have access to nehru place, delhi so prices could be a bargain :-D

Also, I do have a dell inspiron 14r laptop having an core i5 540m, AMD's ATI 5450m 1GB gfx card, 3GB DDR3 1333mhz locked to 1066mhz (duh' thats dell ) and I am able to play BF3 at high setings :p but only thing that haunts me is that I dont want to blow up my laptop though heat generated is negligible.

UPDATE: srry for double posts. OMG plz moderate my posts a bit fast :p I want to communicate...very badly. Also I have putup a request in the Forums suggestion box about dropping the first 10 post rule to just first 5 posts. :|

thx bro but I was kinda hoping that if I leave out an HDD for now and put the $$ somewhere else such as gfx card then it would be awesome! Secondly, A6 is at pretty low end :( and I would certainly require a discrete gfx card; BF3 requires a heavy setup IMO

hmm..looks nice but bros I was hoping something similar to this one here

There are 2 configurations and still there is round about of ~6k of saving + leaving out the HDD for now makes it to around ~10k of saving which can be put to good use in getting a gfx card. What say?:-D

Also while googling out I got hold of this price list here as I can go to nehru place, delhi on weekends and get it done easily. but still I need your help because I dont trust shopwallas tips regarding performance tips etc.

OR should I really upgrade my existing laptop config to have a total of 6GB DDR3 RAM? (existing: 1GB+2GB; replacement: 2GB+4GB)Will it make my laptop generate more and more heat? Please advice.

if you can, grab the second config. But you can't overclock the processor whereas in case of AMD system, it can be overclocked to 3.5-3.6Ghz easily.

hey but why? BF3 is running absolutely ok on the present config:-D just sometimes while loading up the missions it takes some time.

Considering the AMD one for now.
Hey could you also shed some light on the AMD Trinity CPU's/APU's/Project coming in May 2012 ? I heard its gonna blow all decks:shock:

umm..bro am not sure if I would really like to go with an Intel based system at this budget *shrugs*. As its quite low and at the same budget I can get a lot better AMD based system.

And yeah, A6 looks cool but I am wondering at this capped budget who would outperform the AMD Athlon II 260 (as suggested by sam) or the AMD A6 you suggested (now thats without a discrete gfx card here ).

Cliff hanger situation~

the AMD A6 you suggested (now thats without a discrete gfx card here ).
A6-3650 has an IGP - Radeon HD 6530D. It should be slightly faster than your laptop's GPU.

Though a discrete gfx card like HD 6770 will be quite faster.

echo9, you can also opt for newly launched Gigabyte HD 7750 1 GB GDDR5, priced 6.2K in SMCINTERNATIONAL. It has power consumption like a HD 6670 and performance wise I guess little ahead or same of HD 6770.

i said that adding more ram on laptop won't increase performance. 3Gb ram is enough unless you run 64bit Windows and have faster processor & GPU that can offer extra performance.

trinity will be late and who knows what kind of performance gain it delivers over the existing APUs. but what it may be priced high. low higher than what the current A series is priced. also with the config i suggested you can drop in a Phenom II X4 or maybe 2nd gen FX some year later.

Pentium G620 would clearly outperform Athlon II 260. Combination of G620 & 6770 is far better than AMD A6. AMD A6-3650 would be ideal for casual gamers who don't want invest money on graphics card.

As you say that you have a decent ATI Mobility Card in your laptop. Find out the desktop equivalent of ATI 5450M.

Compare the desktop equivalent of your Laptop card with desktop
HD 6770 or 7750. Find the average increase in performance.

Then try to decide is it worth investing another 20K on desktop to get that much better gaming experience. The thing is if you are already having a laptop playing battlefield 3 decently at low settings, then is it worth getting a budget desktop which may not give huge boost in experience or atleast be a future proof config?

my suggestion: save some more money, wait for your laptop to get a bit older, untill it is struggling or unable to play the latest games you love, you will be frustrated with your laptop:-D. This will probably take a year. By then save up some 40 to 50K. you will be hungry to play the latest games:mrgreen:. Intel will release Haswell in 2013, which is Tock as Ivy bridge is tick. Tock is sure to give huge performance boost like Sandy bridge, Nehalem & Core. go for quad core Haswell & 7850/8850, that config will be rocking.
