why i m not unable to install any software on pc

hi

since 2 days i m facing this problem,,,,,,,

whenever i have installed any software eg any game or any software from recent digit cds ,,,,,,installation happening with sucess but after one restart i m unable to see same game or same software or even movie too

i dont have any freezer software on pc

yesterday i kept stealth movie from freinds cd on one partition ,,when i restarted pc i lost that too but previous movies and previous installed softwares working fine

scanned pc with trendmicro,,,,,spybot adware,i have ,,spywarebluster and zonealarm pro,,,,

and twice i have tried to create restore points , i created that and named too but after restart ,,i have seen no restore points on that day and no names too ,,,,,,,,,pc telling me no restore points u have created,,,,,,,

is it really necessary to reinstall xp,,,,,,

or some body controlling my pc,,by trojen but everyscan of security utilities is clean,,,,,,i think too much suspicious thought,,,,,,,

Looks like your PC is infected with a virus. And Trend
Micro is not able to remove it. Try installing Kaspersky
anitvirus. Even if it doesn't solve the problem. The only
option left is reinstalling Windows. Also install a good
firewall like ZoneAlarm.

Oh and yeah.. Another vote for windows reformat (not just re-install). A re-install will worsen the condition. Format the windows drive and install windows again..

1.Did you by any chance install Norton goback? It has this feature of restoring everything at every boot. There could be similar software as well. Check add/remove programs.
2. Save a file/movie. Now rightclick on it, select properties, and make the file read-only. Restart

Search google, google groups for it. This could be a common problem if its a windows problem
4. Try hibernating, Does the problem exists?

Most probably its a norton goback problem. Also note the time it takes your system to boot. and which os are you on?

I seriously suggest chesss's point no. 1 as the cause of your problem as viruses that can do a full system restore are not known to exist.

i neither install nor uninstall anything in pc ,,its freezed,,,,,,,help me

Yeah, just take all the imp files from the drive on which you have installed your OS. Format the drive, reinstall.

u have no option left other than complete system format
sounds painfull but u have to do it.
