1. 1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Stupid answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work. Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.')
Ans: I am a videographer and a photographer. I will be doing extremely heavy video editing, post processing, color grading, correction and Photo editing. Applications such as Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere Pro and Color Grade will be used extensively and usually will need to be open in parallel. I am currently using a Dell Inspiron 15R laptop and it is unable to handle this load and that's the only reason I am moving.

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.
Ans: Including a 27 inch IPS monitor, I am willing to spend 80k, and push it to 1L if absolutely needed.

3. Planning to overclock?
Ans: No.

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans: 7 - 64bit

5. How much hard drive space is needed?
Ans: 250gigs. I have all the external hdd space I need already.

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.
Ans: I am considering the AOC I2757FH IPS Monitor. Is this a good choice? I need a 27 inch IPS.

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans: Mouse and Keyboard not needed. UPS required.

8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: ASAP

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Ans: I have not assembled before, but I am planning to give this a shot.

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans: Prefer Online.

11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans: I need loads of RAM. From my experience, 8GB doesn't suffice. Feel free to suggest 16GB or more.

I was going through the forum and I think the following is a good system. Do you guys think this suffices my requirements? (Courtesy: Incenerator)

Looks good one

1)take Asus P8H77-V LE (you won't be oc cpu so this would be good)

2)
TX850V2

3)samsung 840 120gb ssd is must

4)take i7 3770,no need to take k one unless you want to overclock

oh wow...Xenforo!!!
Grabbing a good CPU cooler is a wiser choice, even if you're not overclocking assuming you're doing a lot of CPU intensive work on it. I would recommend shifting to a larger case, like Antec P280. When you don't need that much space, you could consider Samsung 840 Pro. Just see how it works out for your budget.

Well if you want, you can consider those Catleap monitors from Korea. Many people I know were able to get it here without any issues. But confirm from your end about AOC's warranty policy since I am not sure how it is over here. Also, if you want you can import memory kits from a website called memoryc.com. Few people I know get it from there and if any RMA comes up, they can submit it to G Skill Taiwan. Overall costs works cheaper for them, considering how 16GB 1866MHz+ kits costs.

Strike off that Gtx 670 and invest in a 7970 here. Premier pro has both cuda and open-cl support, but cuda support is only limited to nvidia's quadro cards and not geforce ones.
Its limited in the driver level. If you want nvidia, invest in a quadro card.

Premier pro now also supports open-cl and all AMD GCN cards are great in open-cl performance. So a 7970 will be more suitable here and you can game on it too if you want.

FX 8350 is a good cheaper alternative to 3770k here. It offers similar performance at a much cheaper price but higher power consumption. Its great in video editing tasks.

If I go with the AMD processor and the 7970 GPU, what motherboard would I need? Would I need two GPUs or would one suffice?

^^ For 8350, you can get any 990,970 chipset boards with am3+ support. I recommend asus 990fx sabertooth.
Stick with a single 7970. You don't need two cards for your purpose.

P.S - About my comment on cuda applicable to nvidia quadro only, this applies to premier pro only and not other cuda accelerated apps. They support geforce, but premier pro works best in quadro.

So, this is the configuration that I have after taking all your comments into consideration:

AMD FX8350 - Rs.12709 (Flipkart)
Asus 990fx sabertooth- - Rs 15278 (Ezmaal.com)
Sapphire AMD/ATI HD 7970 DDR5 Vapor-X 6 GB OC Edition 6 GB GDDR5 Graphics Card - Rs.42647 (Flipkart)
G.Skill RipjawsZ DDR3 16 GB (4 X 4 GB) PC RAM (F3-12800CL9Q-16GBZL) - Rs.8437 (Flipkart)
Samsung 840 Series 120 GB SSD Internal Hard Drive (MZ-7TD120BW) - Rs.6543 (Flipkart)
CORSAIR CMPSU-850TXV2UK 850 Watts PSU - Rs.8399 (Snapdeal)
Antec P280 Mid Tower Cabinet - Rs.9180 (Flipkart)
Samsung SH-S 223F - 975
AOC i2757Fh 27 inch Monitor - Rs.20000 (Snapdeal)

Total: 123193/-

So, looks like this is taking me around 20k over my budget. Is there anything that I can change here to get me within 1L without affecting performance? Further, do I need a separate cooler or can I add that in later?

For you.....since its a Tool and not a Toy.....get this

i7 3770 / FX8350 - Rs 17,785 / Rs 11,800
Asus P8H77-V LE / Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD5 - Rs 9800 / Rs 13,150
Leadtek NVIDIA Quadro 2000 - Rs 26,700
G.skill Ripjaws X 16GB (2 x 8GB) (F3-12800CL10D-16GBXL) - Rs 7500
Corsair TX650V2 - Rs 5600
Logitech G400 - Rs 1500
TVSE Gold USB - Rs 1700
Antec P28/Cooler Master Silencio - Rs 7632/Rs 10265
OPD - Samsung SH-S 223F - 975
AOC I2757FH - Rs 17,700

Total- Rs 96,892 Intel / Rs 94,257

Both the rigs are great with the AMD having one hell of a mainboard. The Quadro with Open GL and Cuda and stable driver support will be better over fast gaming cards IMHO. Since you are a Pro stick with Pro stuff over gaming stuff. A game crash aint much a loss but an almost complete project crashing due to drivers is bad, real bad.The cabinest are for silence over anything and the Antec is great for the price.WSo there you go,and yesthe AOC is excellent I dare say that its the next best thing to an NEC when on a budget and when properly calibrated

Add a CPU cooler [212 Evo] and an SSD if you fancy SSDs. Geta Crucial M4 or Samsung 840. Crucial is very reliable and is fast too but not as fast as the Samsung.

Ripjaws Z are best for Quad Channel X79 / LGA211 set up. Get Ripjaws X.

^^^ Where are u seeing these rates? I didn't find the monitor less than 19k when I checked online. All the rates that you have quoted seem cheaper than what I have found. It will be helpful if you can point me to the place where I can find them at these rates.

Thx.

These are Kolkata Rates. If you buy things online they will be expensive. Check with MD Computers and Itdepot ,Prime abgb. Google they have websites.

Since no overclocking you can get i7 3770.Though fx8350 does quite well in video encoding and editing in image editing software like photoshop, lightroom it would be slower in general than i7 3770.
Adobe premiere pro CS6 has OpenCL support in MAC with cards from Nvidia and AMD but doesn't have in Windows. The upcoming version dubbed as Premiere Pro Next would have support for OpenCL in windows but as of now they don't have OpenCL support in windows.

In your config you didn't include HDD but only a 120GB SSD.Are you sure 120GB SSD is adequate and fine for yourself as for optimal performance the SSD should be ~20% empty and more so with the TLC based 840,also the OS and apps would take around 30-50GB depending upon applications and installation.
A 250-256GB SSD might be a better option if you need more space and don't want to use HDD.
As you mentioned that you need UPS,you can look for APC 1.1kVA(BR1100CI-IN) ~5.2k.

When you say Leadtek Nvidia Quadro 2000, is this the one you are referring to? LeadTek NVidia Quadro 2000 Graphic Card / PCI-E / 1 GB / 128 Bit | eBay . This has only 1GB of onboard memory. Is that the correct item?

For video editing gfx card not that critical as Proccy, that's waaay too much ur puting in gfx card atm
Couple of dvd drives is a must
2 monitors help a lot
You need lots more space, raw format and transcoding occupies tons of space, plus scratch disk space, so get at least 1tb of non ssd space

Yes ,and 1GB Vram is enough for your work rest the System RAM will pool in.Its overpriced in ebay, street price should not be over Rs 26K

If you are not in to gaming stick to Quadro.
