UPS or Inverter for Backup ?

Hi Folks,

Is there very high capacity UPS which would run my system for more than 1 hr ? If yes, please mention the model and its' price.

and whether, Inverter will be a good choice rather than UPS ? I will just power my Computer System and nothing else.

But, i dont want to spend a lot of money in Inverter, since they will be costing around 14k (inverter + battery). If there isn't any choice in UPS, i would have to empty my pocket. There is emergency need for this.

Please give your system specs.
If the system specs are the same as in your signature, specifically without a graphics card, a 1kva UPS will easily give you 1hr of back up. You should easily get one for 2-3k.
I used to get 40min with my 600va when the graphics card was unplugged.

If you have a graphics card, your power consumption will increase drastically depending on how power hungry it is.

Dont go for an inverter esp since you are powering just a PC. A 1KVA+ UPS will do as mentioned by r4gs above

You need not necessarily go for APC but this is the only site i know of
Others would point at Numeric etc which seem to be good too
