Re: Thinking of buying the Samsung Omnia HD

Absolutely. Heres the quote from the blog.
We recently came up with the concept of a mobile lab, which is a device that combines innovative hardware from a partner with software that runs on Android to experiment with new mobile features and capabilities, and we shared this device with Google employees across the globe. This means they get to test out a new technology and help improve it.

And heres from Eldar in Twitter.
Hmmm Google Phone is a kind of fake finaly. Just finish conversation with some guy from Google, story looks in other way then it was discuss

Google employees are testing some features of upcoming version of Android 2.1 on HTC Passion which was called Google Phone (=Android phone)

Some rival company used misunderstanding to lauch rumour about Gphone and new business model from Google (which arent true).

Go figure. :D

Re: Thinking of buying the Samsung Omnia HD

@Kalpik, IMHO Nokia N900 looks to be more potent than the Droid but one advantage that Droid has is Android. It's penetration into the market will be much faster than Maemo.

Re: Thinking of buying the Samsung Omnia HD

All nokia phones are coming with resistive screen.. And that really sucks :(

Re: Thinking of buying the Samsung Omnia HD

Nokia X6 comes with capacitive touch screen and inbuild 32gig memory :)

360 x 640 pixels, 3.2 inches
16M colors
5 MP, 2592x1944 pixels, Carl Zeiss optics, autofocus, Dual LED flash, video light
ARM 11 434 MHz processor

The downside is that like most Nokia touch phones, nobody knows when this will be released in India.

Re: Thinking of buying the Samsung Omnia HD

^^what's wrong in it? It is one of the big four that has lot of alternate apps for everything. Moreover, Nokia is comitted to Symbian development and they are not going to pull the plug unlike Samsung which is moving to a new OS every few months.

First java GUI, then symbian, then winmo, then Touchwiz and now BadaOS. They don't have a clear direction.

Motorola on the other hand has committed itself to Android and are scrapping all other projects.

HTC will be using either Android or winmo.

Nokia Maemo and Symbian. only one Maemo phone in 2010 but handful of symbian phones in the queue.

SE: gods knows what they are going to do. UIQ, android, winmo.

My suggestion is to stick to the platform that has a future. And my pick would be either Android or Symbian.

Re: Thinking of buying the Samsung Omnia HD

@desibond: Symbian has no future.. Nokia is planning to ditch it by 2012.. Also, Symbian is the worst platform for a touchscreen phone..

Re: Thinking of buying the Samsung Omnia HD

@kalpik- Dont go for a symbian phone.it sucks. Am using the Satio right now and even though most of the UI has been reset by SE to be more user friendly, it still sux. OMG!! Cant wait to get my hands on the X10 this jan. My last Symbian phone ever. :|
About the Droid, you wont be getting it soon in India. It will be bundled with some connection, like the galaxy which is being bundled by Docomo. Y

Re: Thinking of buying the Samsung Omnia HD

Yeah and motorolla has largely withdrawn from Indian operations thanks to it being a miserable failure despite having many good phones.

Reduces chances of getting the product quickly even more.

Odds are by the tim Motorolla Droid is out, the Debian based Nokia N900 will be already in India. Only problem with N900 is its resistive touch screen.

Re: Thinking of buying the Samsung Omnia HD

Yup.. Can, and will wait :) Actually just waiting for better hardware (snapdragon).. All Android 1.5/1.6 phones are anyway upgradable to 2.0.

Thats right!!!

But the thing about droid is its yummy hardware!!!!

Re: Thinking of buying the Samsung Omnia HD

I have been using HTC Magic for a month now and I find Android a very capable OS. Its has been very stable. There has been absolutely no system freeze till date (unlike Symbian devices). Memory management is exemplary. App. market is loaded with cool goodies. Google has absolutly gone berserk in rolling out goodies after goodies for the market.

IMO give Omnia a skip and go for an Android device.
