I was thinking along these lines -

a) Intel i5 2500 (non-K)
b) good H67 motherboard, like Intel DH67BL
c) G.Skill Ripjaws 2x4GB 1333 RAM
d) Corsair VX450

Intel Core i5 2400 @ 9.5k
Intel DH67CL @ 6k
corsair/kingston 2*2gb ddr3 1333 @ 2.2k
corsai vx 450W @ 3.6k

all set in 22k and will satisfy your requirements for coming 3-4 years

Very good config Piyush..justwant to say by just spending 500 bucks extra he can get a Corsair GS600 which is more future proof if a high end graphics card or other components are added later.

@Piyush, Isnt Seasonic 520W(S12II-520) - 3.6K better than VX450?

@CILUS, I think Corsair GS600 costs 1K more...

I'd say spend a little more and get Seasonic S12II Bronze 520w over Corsair VX450. Corsair VX450 is actually a Seasonic OEM and based on the S12II platform.

Corsair GS series doesn't get a recommendation from me because they are not like their VX/TX counterparts. Reliable? yes.

Can somebody confirm me where is Seasonic S12II Bronze 520w available for Rs. 3600?? It is priced at ~Rs. 4100, iirc.

^But i hope locally we can get it lesser than the online price...
Depends again. You might, you might not. Online Corsair CX400 = 2500. Locally in Delhi it is 2900. :?

I honestly can't see Seasonic S12II Bronze 520w being available anywhere for less than 4k. And that too considering their budget SS series 500w costs 3.3k in Mumbai.

seasonic S12II Bronze 520w costs 4k+ everywhere
whether it is mentioned 3.6k on some websites, including shipping and vat makes it to reach 4k pricepoint

and btw corsair VX 450W is a trimmed down version of seasonic 500-520W unit just rated at 450W(i mean it is actually a 500W+ unit)

for future purpose i would recommend VX550 , 500 to 700 bucks more worth a lot (who knows the next gen gpu's are low power consumption or not )

We will never ever add a GPU or anything else for that matter. We just want raw computing power. Nothing fancy. We will be running Linux, and in fact, most of the time we will be working in console. there will be no graphic display.

So, then, we just need a 400W PSU.

Why not the microATX board - DH6BL? I mean, is there any particular reason for choosing the ATX board (DH6CL) over the micro-ATX board? (Note, as mentioned above, we do not need extra slots.)

Good config indeed. But why should the OP be devoid of a good Case if he has some amount left.
CM Elite 310 at 1.5k will do.
