For the second consecutive time, Sony Ericsson ranked highest in U.S. overall customer satisfaction performance among wireless mobile phone brands in
the 2008 J.D. Power and Associates U.S. Wireless Mobile Phone Evaluation Study(SM). Sony Ericsson was previously ranked highest in the same study during periods of 2006 and 2007.

"Achieving the top ranking for performance and quality of our mobile handsets from consumers is an honor and demonstrates our commitment to bring a broad range of world class handsets that both simplify and enrich the wireless communication experience of our U.S. consumers," said Najmi Jarwala, president of Sony Ericsson North America. "Just as this study measures the 'satisfaction experience of handsets,' Sony Ericsson's long-standing goal is to set the standard for product and application innovation, and to create mobile handsets that lead in design, quality and ease of use. Already, 2008 is proving to be a milestone year for Sony Ericsson in the U.S. with the largest portfolio of handsets fitting a wide range of consumer lifestyles."

In this 2008 Vol. 1 Mobile Phone Study, Sony Ericsson ranked highest among mobile phone brands with a score of 740, significantly higher than industry average. Sony Ericsson received significantly higher than industry average scores in all factors, which included physical design, operation, features and battery function.

The study measured customers' satisfaction with wireless handsets based on five key product performance factors, including physical design, operation, features, handset durability and battery function.
Sony Ericsson entered the wireless handset market in 2001 as a joint venture between Sony and Ericsson. Since its inception, the company has released a number of Sony sub-branded handsets, including the Walkman(TM) and Cyber-shot(TM) brands in 2005 and 2006, respectively. In February 2008, Sony Ericsson launched XPERIA(TM), the first sub-brand born within Sony Ericsson.

commitment ?? LOL..! Maybe

About Quality...

w580 key pad has terrible commitment. the keys crack.
In all k550 the metal polish comes out in 2 months. the d pad color is completely gone by now.
w200, have you seen the display ! its terrible !!

And in the File Manager even to date they the dumb SE Engineers have failed to map the keypad to the file manager.
And there are lots of bugs to fix.

Maybe others brands are even more horrible.

Yeah I agree with that. Even my W710i had those problems. The chrome around the D-pad wore out. The rubber on the outside of the flap used to peel out and I had to stick it every time with glue. And there was dust inside the display (dunno how it got there). But still the phone itself worked well and there were no major problems with the electricals or anything.

@akshay-have you by any chance seen the new set of W580s that have come up??the keys are perfectly fine and i havent heard anyone complaining for a long long time..and for the k550 peeling off..blame your sweat..you dont expect a company to put in a silver coat for a 7k phone..do you??I am yet to find a phone in the lower tier that has to have any peeling problems yet..have you ever heard any phone sound as good as the w200 in the 4k range??
