How can i prevent searching of a particular file in my system. If possible a filetype.

I want that when someone searches "*.docx" in my system search result shows nothing. Is there any way to do so. If not anyway to just prevent file individually from coming in windows search result.

I am using Windows 7 Home Premium.

I am using Windows 7 Home Premium.

Do the following:

Step 1: Goto Start ---> type "index" in the search box.

Step 2: Select Indexing Options

Step 3: Goto Advanced tab {below} in the resulting Window.

Step 4: Select the File Types tab and scroll down to your desired extension and untick it ---> then select OK -- OK. DONE.

PS : works in all versions of windows 7, windows server.

oh !

That's easy!

Step 1 : Goto Start --> and type services.msc [ then click on it to open it or press Enter ]

Step 2 : Scroll to Windows Search and start this service [ also set it to manual ]

Step 3 : Now you should get the Files Type Tab.
