Mobo Biostar TA790GXBE
GPU Sapphire Radeon HD 6850 1 GB
PSU Corsair 650W
RAM Corsair XMS2 TWIN2X4096-6400C5 (2 X 2GB DDR2 800MhZ C5)

1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Stupid answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work. Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.')
Ans: Primary purpose is gaming. I mostly play WoW. I am currently playing Skyrim, LA Noire and switching to SWToR. I play the big names when they come out - like, CoD franchise, Battlefield franchise, Arkham Asylum, Wicther 2, Dragon Age 2.
2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.
Ans: 25-30K. Required components are CPU, Mobo, Monitor, RAM, and Case. I may extend maybe 1-2K if required. If the budget is stretched to, say 5K-ish, I will have to delay the purchases for a couple of months.
3. Planning to overclock?
Ans: Unlikely.
4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans: Windows 7 Ultimate
5. How much hard drive space is needed?
Ans: I already have two HDDs. No plans to buy more at the moment.
6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.
Ans: Yes. A minimum 22" monitor with 1920x1080 (1080p) native resolution is preferred. I would have liked to go for a 24" display, but I am not being able to fit that in the budget, so might as well work with 22".
7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans: I have heard reports of bad customer service by Benq, so a bit iffy about Benq G2222HDL. Besides I could not find that in Kolkata anyway.
I already have the following components that I am going to use:
Sapphire Radeon HD 6850 1 GB
Corsair TX650W
Samsung DVD R/W
WD HDD
APC 1100 VA
8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: This month. Today, if possible, otherwise, next weekend.
9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Ans: Probably will get an assembler to put the components together - I have a tendency to bend pins!
10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans: I live in Kolkata. I will buy either directly from Chandni Chawk myself, or get an assembler to buy the components for me.
11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans: My initial plans were to go for a AMD Phemon II X4 955 BE combined with Gigabyte GA-880GM-USB3 (rev 3.1). However, I think I will switch to a i5-2400 combined with DH67CL motherboard.
Initial upgrade plan:
CPU AMD Phemon II X4 955 BE ~ Rs 6500
Mobo Gigabyte GA-880GM-USB3 (rev 3.1) ~ Rs 5000
RAM G-Skill F3-10600CL9S-4GBNT (4Gx1) * 2 ~ Rs 2500
Case NZXT Gamma/CM Elite 430 Black ~ Rs 2500 – 2700
Display Del l ST2220HDL/Dell ST2420L ~ Rs 8500/Rs 13,000
The upgrades I am now planning are:
Intel Core i5 2400
Intel DH67CL
G-Skill F3-10600CL9S-4GBNT (4Gx1) *2
Dell ST2220HDL
NZXT Gamma
Do the options look okay? Should I go for the i5 or the Phenom II X4 set up?
