I think Xiaomi still does. Earlier Nexus line or Samsung didn't need a unlock code like Xiaomi did.Which phone manufacturers provide bootloader unlock code now ?
I know HTC, Sony used to do it in earlier days.
Realme doesn't provide one
Have you enabled google's own "find my device"? If not then do it as it will replace Xiaomi's own "find my device" in functionality & may solve this issue. My phone's (Redmi 4) battery sometimes drain super fast. When that happens, the culprit would be Find device.
Disable location when not in use or flash a custom rom.Any ideas guys???
I don't think so. As far as I can remember I toggled on/off Xiaomi's find device when I was troubleshooting. The app's apk name is com.xiaomi.finddeviceHave you enabled google's own "find my device"? It's almost always off as I don't need that for any of my use. Even when I turn on, I make sure it's off after I am done with it.Disable location when not in use or flash a custom rom.
Try GreenifyI have pretty much no apps installed other than the ones came with (I have uninstalled some usding adb tool) and my use is pretty basic - phone calls, text, notes, alarm. No whatsapp, youtube anything. Battery usually lasts for couple of days, sometime 3 - 4 days.
My phone's (Redmi 4) battery sometimes drain super fast. When that happens, the culprit would be Find device. That app alone uses up 50-70% of the battery. I tried turning on find device, turning off, deactivate admin access, force stop. I can't neither kill, disable nor uninstall it. I don't know why it keeps running. In just two hours it drained from 49 - 29% while the phone was idle the whole time. In fact, I barely used the phone today and it drained from 100 - 29% in about 16hrs.
I don't think it's because of device/battery's age. It has happened before and the issue resolve on it's own after 2- 4 days.
I don't know what else I could do other than factory resetting. I even googled for solution, couldn't find any.
Thought about removing it using adb tool, but the ones who tried said it screws up the things and we have to factory reset it to use the phone again.
Any ideas guys???

That's an oxymoron. You can try custom ROMs based on MIUI.
In your device admin apps, is there a "find my device" option which is ON & clicking on it shows the description as "allow the app google play services to perform following operations"?I don't think so. As far as I can remember I toggled on/off Xiaomi's find device when I was troubleshooting. The app's apk name is com.xiaomi.finddevice
After you mentioning, I just checked and it looks like it's on. Guess it's on by default.
I installed it but it hardly shows any apps to add especially find device. May be I have to spend some more time and figure out Greenify. I will try it again some other time may be this weekend. ThanksTry Greenify
Yes, just the basic ones. I am pretty much using it like a feature phone.Only Calls, SMS, notes and alarm. Right?
MIUI - Try this "Ultra Battery saver" from quick setting tiles

Yes, it was there. It was ON when I first checked after the issue started. I toggled to OFF (aka deactivated) but was still battery draining. In your device admin apps, is there a "find my device" option which is ON & clicking on it shows the description as "allow the app google play services to perform following operations"?
Try keeping location on for few hours/overnight to see if it helps.Okay. I did factory reset. And it has come back in less than 24 hours. So factory resetting didn't help. Didn't sign in to Xiaomi's account. So there should be no reason to run and drain the battery. In the last few hours it used up over 40%.
Device Admin (Find my device) - Deactivated
Google find my device - ON (default)
Xiaomi Find device - NO - Didn't even login.
GPS/Location - OFF
Battery saver - ON
When I use GPS, it drains the battery quicker for sure. I have noticed when I used map. But I haven't tried after the issue started. I will give it a try.Try keeping location on for few hours/overnight to see if it helps.
Op still using MIUI on redmi 4 just for basic needs. That's an oxymoron.
I don't think there are any stables ones apart from xiaomi eu & miroom. So I thought he liked MIUI so suggested to try MIUI based custom ROMs.
I never had a smartphone before and never felt like I needed one. After getting a new one for my mom, I started using this one. So never was in a position with tinkering smartphone OS.So I thought he liked MIUI so suggested to try MIUI based custom ROMs.
Custom ROMs from here
Or search xda
Never try custom rom for another device name ID. You can take a look here, Xiaomi EU roms are semi-official & a bit debloated miui roms good for trying before you feel the need to install full fledged AOSP custom roms.Mostly I see custom ROMs for Santoni, but going by this link storage.googleapis.com/play_public/supported_devices.html mine is prada (may be I can use santoni's ).

Though I have heard about custom ROMs before, never bothered to look up. Thanks to you I looked up after you mentioning, but there seems like a lot of red flags especially for someone like me who look up for the first time. I am not seeing my model in Pixel experience. Looks like Lineage and Pixel have stopped for my model. The telegram link you posted - looks like my Jio fiber is blocking that address.
Find device didn't bug today, about 1% use in the last 15hrs. Like I said before, it would stop bugging after few days on it's own. Just that this time I lost patience as soon as it started bugging. Don't know why it keeps coming back. If I remeber right it was 3rd or 4th time in the last 3 months. Thanks guys, thanks a lot. Will come back if/when it comes back
