It is the famous Electric Stove Edition. :D

Use it to roast your bread. You can't do anything, especially with Rashi.

Try getting the Thinkdigit people involved. Topgear had done the same: *www.thinkdigit.com/forum/hardware-q/124959-cheated-viewsonic-resolved-digit.html

I think he should dismantle the card and clean the fan for it must be stuck with dirt and since he is not even getting warranty on the card there is no other way. Either do it himself or let the card burn due to overheating and still not get warranty.

I have done everything you maintained above but no result. The card was in warranty but the distributed doesn't want to replace it.

I had the same issue. i used a vaccum cleaner but in vain, after that when the fan spins it used to make noise, later i came to know that a capacitor has also blown, luckily i had 1 mth warranty left. i gave it rashi and got it replaced today, they gave me a different different looking 8600gt card. anyways the service center guy told me that i am a bit lucky to get it replaced and most of them are considered as damaged and they reject it.

You're lucky that Rashi were good in your area.In kolkata they provide most pathetic after-sales support:-x

My friend got his 8800gt alpha dog replaced just a week before it ran out of warranty, have you tried taking it to rashi first?

Guys 196.75 drivers it was last year & i was playing BadCompany2 a beta driver was released which had fan controller problem after the initial reports the drivers were removed from nvidia site, But thousands of users of users were left with burnt, fried cards i think his card was the victim of that driver i was lucky because i used zotac firestorm to manage the clock & fanspeed settings of my 9800Gt here is the quote from
Nvidia

"We are aware that some customers have reported fan speed issues with
the latest 196.75 WHQL drivers on NVIDIA.com. Until we can verify and
root cause this issue, we recommend that customers stay with, or return
to 196.21 WHQL drivers. Release 196.75 drivers have been temporarily
removed from our website. "

even though i got my card replaced, it is not performing as good as my previous card. the looks different but its an 8600 gt , any ways i guess its time for me change my card. i'll either buy XFX ATI Radeon HD 5770 or Zotac Nvidia GTS450 or XFX ATI Radeon HD 5680.
