1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Stupid answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work. Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.')

Ans: Gaming is my first priority (BF3, MW3, Crysis 2,Diablo 3, Assasins creed, and such supcomming titles). I want to be able to watch Full HD/bluray movies on it.

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.

Ans: 20K MAX (for mobo+CPU+PSU)

3. Planning to overclock?

Ans: Yes.

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?

Ans: Win 7 Pro 64 bit.

5. How much hard drive space is needed?

Ans: I will use my 500GB WD blue and 1 Tb WD green

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.

Ans: No , I will use my Benq 2222HDL.1920x1080

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?

Ans:
a) I have MSI Radeon 6850 cyclone
b) Corsair Vengence 8gb ram (2*4gb)
c) DVD drive sony
d) Keyboard and Mouse .
e) Cabinet Cooler master elite 335
f) Cooler master hyper 212 evo cpu cooler
(Basically i have everything except CPU,MOBO,Cooler)

8. When are you planning to buy the system?

Ans: by june end (15 days).

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?

Ans: Yes, I can do it myself.

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?

Ans: I live in Borivali, Mumbai. I would prefer buying from flipcart mostly.

11. Anything else which you would like to say?

Ans: I will use this system for atleast 3 more years (Except grafix card will be upgraded next year) .So component reliablity is must.

Also I prefer AMD systems and have assembled these systems from the awsome Athlon 3000+ days. but looking at their new processor lineup and unavailability of phenom 2 X4 processors, i dont mind switching to intel.

AMD Phenom II 1090T @ 8.5k
Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3 @ 6.5K
Corsair GS600 @ 4.7k
Total @ 19.7k

AMD phenoms are hardly available. So an intel alternative :

Intel Core i5 2400 @ 10.8k
Intel DH67CL @ 5.2k
Corsair GS600 @ 4.7k
Total @ 20.7k

Thanks for the quick reply. This is why i love this forum!!!.

Ok, I checked flip cart they show the price of 1090T as 10K!!!
Mother board price is fine.
But AMD is looking long in the tooth now a days.

Also since phenoms are almost extinct and newer AMD processors can not stand against new Intel ones, will it be better to go for the intel path????

I will look at the Intel system.
CPU is finalised: Intel Core i5 2400 : INR 11241 (flipcart).

1. GS600 is not available on flipcart. Can you suggest any other PSU in the same price/power range.
GS500 is 80 plus gold. can it carry the load??
2. I have never purchased any intel motherboards. Any feedback on the suggested mobo?? also any similar ATX motherboard from Gigabyte or ASUS??

Intel Motherboards Are good . But IF you want an ASUS one , it will cost you 2K more.
You can go for Seasonic S12 520W .
I also ordered the same config. Except the Graphic Card. It is GTX 560 from ASUS.

Hi, Thanks for the reply.

2 components finalised after some forum research
Seasonic S12 520W @4054 flipcart
i5 2400 @11241 flipcart
Motherboard :????

I can get 2K-3K more for a quality motherboard.
Also can you point which one exactly, I was not paying attention to intel for a long time so dont know much about intel chipsets.

By the way, saw this z77 board from gigabyte. How will this go with the processor.

Gigabyte GA-Z77P-D3 Motherboard
link :(Buy Gigabyte GA-Z77P-D3 Motherboard in Mumbai India)

meanwhile I will compare z77 and h67 chipsets.

Z77 boards are meant for K series Processors.

But the Price is 7.2K . So , you can go for it. But I would get intel H67 board and save 2K.

Hi,

I have decided on the following
1. Intel Core i5 2400 Sandy Bridge 3.1GHz (3.4GHz Turbo Boost) 4 x 256KB L2 Cache 6MB L3 Cache LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor BX80623I52400
@10940

2. Intel DH67CL B3 LGA 1155 Intel H67 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
@5650

3. SeaSonic S12II 520 Bronze 520W ATX12V V2.3 / EPS 12V V2.91 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply
@3865

Will place order on itwares website. Lot of price difference compared to flipcart.
Also, the Intel h67 motherboard is listed as B3, but on flipcart no such info is provided.

will place order tomorrow, so any more suggestions are welcome.

Currently all H67 and P67 chipset based Motherboards come with B3 revision, so in lots of sites it is not mentioned explicitly.
