You've already got a great rig which still has enough horses.
I'd say that wait for something substantial to get released like hexacore processors. Then you can splurge into it.

Look whwn i upgraded to i5 my previous system was a p4 @ 3.06ghz with 512mb ram and a 80gb hdd.

So i needed to upgrade to something more powerful and should last a while.
But you still have a good system so you should wait.
Again its completely upto you buddy so you decide.

i get that bro,
but i am just asking for an option,if now i want an upgrade,is it worth enough to change to i5 or X4 965BE ?
If so what are my choices.

Thanks

mate, if u already own a top of the line last gen proccy, buying a new proccy of new gen won't impress u with power. though may reach much higher clock speed with that mighty V8 cooler. if u want get a new processor, get i7.

as for the X4 965, its a bit costly. the X4 955 is much better priced. 965/955 can be termed as cheaper versions of i5.

so if u want a upgrade u can either get i7 or better wait for Intel Sandy Bridges or AMD Llano with planned to come out next year.

Fatalcore..:)
Well if you have a q9550+ep45 ud3l, moving to an i5/P55 will not make earth shattering differences to you. OC that chip man. And get more performance. Maximum if you want put in a powerful accelerator. That depends on your budget. If you HAVE TO upgrade then i7 would make a difference.

@ fatalcore

Buddy what asigh says is true. You won't get earth shattering difference.Instead of spending on a cpu+mobo+ram combo go for a better gpu to maximize your system performance.

Radeon 5850 is advisable since you've got a corsair vx450.
Look for for sapphire or powercolor. Its definitely gonna give a big performance boost over that 9500gt of yours.

Not worth it at all IMO, the Q9550 is MORE THAN enuf, and u have a gr8 config.

This will hold out till the 32nm Quad cores, so save ur money till 2011.

Thanks a lot for the early reply.
I completely agree with ur suggestion.
However , i was thinking to replace, because of two thing's mainly,
1.Presently i am using 8GB DDR2 800mhz ram
2.And my motherboard doesn't support SLI.

I have an option to scrap the existing system and upgrade at Rs.O.OO cost.
Hence , i thought even if i dont get an super upgrade processor or motherboard.I can switch to
AMDII PhenomX4 965 with
Asus M4A785TD-V EVO Motherboard and
8gb DDR3 1333 MHz Ram

So that even if i have to upgrade my processor and motherboard i can save on ram in the future.

As,i will be using my existing PSU-VX450,CM v8,240 GB HDD,DVD-RW,CM-690 Cabinet,XFX 250 1gb,Creative 5.1,XFi sound blaster.
I am also thinking of purchasing another XFX 250 1Gb.
I am also upgrading my current CRT(LG Flatron-E700SH) to Asus MS236H 23".
Along with a TV Tunner card.

Please suggest.

Looking forward for ur cooperation

thanks
regards,
Fatalcore.

Meaning, you keep you existing system, pull out the RAM and use it on an SLI AMD rig..?

yah, its a bit confusing, i agree .

ok, so in short, if you upgrading get i7 920 if you can. if you can't get i5 750. V8 cooler should take care of OC u do to these beasts.

if AMD maximum is X4 955 BE + MSI 790GX or some other board based on 790GX. if possible 790FX. they support true crossfireX wheres as in Asus M4A785TD-V EVO u'll get X16 + X4 crossfire. means 1 card running at full speed. other running at 1/4 of its ability. & also u'll have to change ram as almost all boards for AMD platform nowadays support DDR3 only.

Please dont confuse me ....
Asus M4A785TD-V EVO u'll get X16 + X4 crossfire. means 1 card running at full speed. other running at 1/4 of its ability.
What does this mean? What is this concept? how can i understand this logic??

I cant afford 4 GPU bro,2 is fine.

Here is the new config i am thinking,

AMD phenom X4 965BE 3.4 GHz
Asus M4A785TD-V EVO
Dominator 2X2Gb DDR3
V8 CM
VX 450
320GB WD
Asus VH222D-22' Full HD
Creative 5.1
Xfi Sound Blaster
DVDrw
Normal cabinet.
-----------------------
No money for GPU .... will get HD 5770 x2 later on.
-----------------------

Please suggest ur options.
Mainly-LCD,cabinet etc etc
--------------------------
Scraping down:
Q9550
GA EP45 UD3L
4GB DDR2 Corsair ram
9500GT
LG Flatron CRT 17'
------------------------
Extra payment....Rs.1021 after upgrade.
------------------------
Requesting comments and suggestion.

Please assist.
thanks

If you are going to get the Asus M4A785TD-V EVO for multi-GPU, please do not.

See, the graphics accelerator is mounted on a PCI.E x 16 dock. This has 16 dual channel channels which are used by the accelerator to communicate with the CPU. Now in the case of Asus M4A785TD-V EVO, the 2nd card will only have 4 lanes to communicate with the CPU. So this way, you are theoretically only using 25% of the second card, IF you get it. If you will use only one accelerator, then this board is perfect.

ok, i get that.... something something.(Am not a technical guy-Less brain to understand lanes and all):D
so, please suggest a mothboard with 2 PCI X16 is enough.and its prices please.

Also suggest the LCD and cabinet and the entire rig.Is the switch ok?
thanks,
fatalcore.
