HP or Dell? Really really confused

HP Pavilion dv6-6165tx - Rs. 57,100
Intel® Core™ i7-2670QM 2.2 GHz, 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3, 750 GB SATA (5400 rpm), 15.6" Display, AMD Radeon HD 6770M (2 GB GDDR5 dedicated)

Dell XPS 15 - Rs. 62,920

Intel® Core™ i7 2630QM 2Ghz, 4GB 1333Mhz DDR3, 750 GB SATA (7200 rpm), 15.6" Display, 2GB NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 540M graphics with Optimus, Dell™ Backlit Keyboard

Dell XPS 15 - Rs. 56,680

Intel® Core™ i5 2450m 2.5Ghz, 4GB 1333Mhz DDR3, 750 GB SATA (7200 rpm), 15.6" Display, 2GB NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 540M graphics with Optimus, Dell™ Backlit Keyboard

My uses are-
3DSMax, AutoCAD, Photoshop, VS2010, Autodesk Mudbox, Premier, VMWare/VBox, A little gaming (eg Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3), Fruity, Ableton etc.

My laptop needs to run almost 24x7 so i don't care about battery, vt-x is a must. I am really confused about choosing dedicated graphics 2 GB or 1 GB (on 1366x768 resolution, really?), but maybe it will be needed in a year or two. 1080p resolution could've been better.

"Dell™ Backlit Keyboard" is also catching my eyes(coz i often work in the dark). 8GB Ram could have been better too(if i buy the dell laptop of 56k).
The latest hp keyboard layout is bad, and i'm really worried about hp hinges.

NOTE: Dell online products are new but only available online, these products are from a local store.

My pickup is HP here. Alternate option is ASUS. Dell laptops have Low battery and heating issues.

Well, since you are mostly into animation, picture and video editing, and only a little gaming, you should get the Dell with the 1080p screen.

If I would be you I would have gone for Dell XPS anyday.Trust me they are very good but just a lil expensive.
As said by aniket,I would also suggest you to get 1080p resolution screen dell xps laptop if you can extend your budget to that extend.
Apart from that I would also like to suggest you Asus K Series K53SV-SX521D.Check out its specs on flipkart

Clarifying few things.

1) nVidia has intentionally crippled drivers for AutoCAD and Maya viewports. So, GT 540M is going to be shockingly slow while handling viewports. Even a desktop graphic card like GTX 560 Ti which costs 15,000 crawls in AutoCAD/Maya viewports.

2) AMD driver also have issues with OpenGL applications - AutoCAD and Maya. If you keep dynamic switching enabled, OpenGL rendering will be ran off Intel HD 3000. But this can be resolved by selecting Fixed graphics mode from BIOS in dv6-6165tx. (someone with 6165tx clarify this to me. I have used 6121tx and it has this option.)

3) So, for your purpose both solutions are not perfect. But HD 6770M is the one which will work properly if you do what I told.

4) If you will select Fixed mode for graphics in BIOS, dynamic switching will not work and your battery life will be less as the laptop will always run on HD 6770M.

5) Dynamic switching in both nVidia and AMD is problematic.

6) HD 6770M is 60-70% faster than GT 540M in games.

7) HP dv6-6165tx is the better choice but has really less resolution. None is the perfect one.

^Just wanted to clarify one thing about point 4. If you select Fixed Mode from BIOS, you can then select from CCC which GPU to use. It will not always run on 6770M. You can switch between ATI and Intel GPUs from CCC according to your requirements.

^ thanks for that. :)

So, Fixed only stops *dynamic* switching. But you can still switch between Intel and AMD.

Thank you so much people for replying. So in Rs60k(62k at most), what would be the best choice? Is "Better resolution" can be availed in this budget? I'm going to buy a laptop tomorrow.

In the zone
get dell xps with full hd b+rg screen. @62k u can get the i5 processor i guess..
or i7 with less hard disk space not sure... but it will cost 65k if u need full specs and full hd screen.
go for hp if u only want to play games on the laptop which isn't a good idea...
