Hi guys iam planning 2 buy a hard disk of 80 GB or 120 GB for my budget of Rs 3000. Plz tell me the best option for it . Plz relll me how 2 my current hard disk whrthr is it sata or ata . Iam a newbie abt this

If U are using this cable to connect ur hard disk ..than it is PATA.

You can get at least 250gb hdd within 3000 Rs.

Surelly every mobo 2 yrs old support pata HDDs. U can get a 250Gb pata HDD from Segate, Hitachi etc for some 2.5~2.7k.
No more to think bout compatibility. u can go for it.

When i talk with1 of our computer store they told me that 80 gb cost arnd 2.5k .How come this 1. It means that any hard disk space will b compatible with any motherboard

Yes lol.Newer motherboards doesnt support pata as far as i know.But your motherboard is 2 years older.So no problem.

Is it needed that the new hdd shud b of 7200 rpm sinilar with the previous 1

i think he is fooling you.
You can go for seagate,wester digital,hitachi.I will prefer Wester Digital.And yes go for 7200 RPM.

HEy...i also wanna ask one ques on harddisk....I hv 915 board so its SATA....can I buy a SATA2 drive and install....I think it will work at sata speeds instead of sata2...Is it true ..
