Graphics card advice needed

Hi I am planning to buy a graphics card in the budget of rs4000+-, I am considering 9600gt,but you can suggest me any nvidia or ATI whichever is the best bang for buck.I will be using it only for gaming.Actually I am frm Assam and here it is very hard to find good GPU in low prices,so my brother has went to Delhi for study purpose and he will be buying the GPU there,so I just wanted to know where in Delhi can we find GPU's in cheap prices,and also is there any market in Delhi where we can find 2nd hand or used graphics card,if yes then how much will a Used 9800gt will cost.

ask your bro to visit SMC International (Nehru place) & get one one of the following: GT240 1Gb DDR3 (or DDR5 if available within 4k) or HD5570 1Gb DDR3 (1Gb memory won't be any faster than 512Mb, but not seen 512Mb cards of the following) from any manufacturer.

stay away from 9600GT (i guess you are using some iBall/Frontech power supply. they can't handle 9600GT power requirements & may blow up affecting the card also), GT430 (absolute crap of product), HD5450/HD5550 (SLOW). or visit SMC's website(search in google) or call them & ask what cards are available (of GT240-HD5570).

if possible, get HD5670 512Mb. its best value (spending little extra will bring in huge performance improvement).

PS: i am also from Assam & very well know its condition in computer section. specially graphics card.

Just wanted to know are the gt240 or Hd5570 better in performance than 9600gt in regards of FPS in games.And can I get used or 2nd hand cards from any market in Delhi

GT240 & HD5570 is roughly of same performance but runs cooler & eats lot less power (no external power needed). so consider them over 9600GT. also HD5570 is DX11 ready. well, all DX11 games won't run in extremely high settings, but in 17"-20", it'll offer good FPS.

can't say about used cards but only can suggest to stay away from them as graphics cards are prone to various problem & used cards may give problem where you'll end up spending lot more. also in SMC the cards i mentioned are available for 3.8-4.3k. so pick one of them.

put in 1k more and get radeon 5670 512mb, i cant recommend either GT240 or 5570 for gaming i couldnt find 5670 512mb version on smc webby but did find sappphire 5670 512 on lynx for just Rs 4350 Sapphire HD 5670 512MB GDDR5 Graphic Card ? Lynx - The Audio , Electronics And Computer Online Store In India lynx is in chandigarh so prices should be similar in delhi

Hey can anyone tell me the current price of 9600gt 512mb and 9800gt 512mb in Delhi nehru place.I am considering these two as these are a little outdated and therefore can get in cheaper rates.I will also get a PSU for these GPU.so is there any PSU at 1.5k which can handle these GPUs,if not 9800gt,any PSU for 9600gt will also do.please reply

Forget 9600gt and 9800gt. Get a radeon 5670 @ 4.5k. Its a great card for the price and requires no external power connector.

At 1.5k, go for fsp sagaII 350. The fsp sagaII 400 can be had at 1.8k which is better imo.

buy fsp saga II 500w psu for 2.3k
you can buy used nvidia 9600gt or 9800 gt from online forums..I bought one evga 9800gt for 3.6k..other forum members are selling msi8800gt for 3.3k shipped.

look bro i know that 9800 was a bang in its time
but move on now
at 4.5k u can go for a little more powerful card than 9800gt and with a very low hunger
HD 5670 will be my suggestion all the way

I really respect all of yours advice,I know that there are many good less power hungry cards than these two,but the main thing is that I am really very tight on pocket,my budget for gpu can't cross 3.5k to 4k,so I will not get a very new recently launched card performing like those two in their price range,as always the outdated parts of computer became cheap.and I will be playing in 1024*768 in my crt so that's why these will be good for me.so that's the reason I am asking the price of only these two.and If there is any card in 3.5k-4k performing like those two you can suggest me.

Go for a 5670 at about 4.5k. Less powerhungry than gts250 and 9800gt. Perfoms similarly or a tad better.

theres no saga 450. get saga II 500w.
and IMO vip450 will blow away with GTS250 OR 9800gt!

see if u can tell us the budget for PSU too then it will help us more
we can arrange good combo if we know about ur total budget

and 5670 is way better than 9800gt because
->better performance
->dx11 and shader model 5.0(required these days and in future too)
->ultra low power requirements(the most admirable quality of this card)

yes 4770 is also a good card but may/may not be available so easily
but my recommendation would be 5670
if 4770 was available its prices would be near 4770 or more
