Well, very major update..... kinda reckless, but :

I BOUGHT THE ZEN!! woot!!!!!

I got it for an incredible 7.5k for the 8gig version at gandhi bazaar. I can't say anything yet about audio quality as i've just returned and have to chrg it fot 4 hours.

First impressions : I was kinda worried that the buttons would be as cheap as everyone said they were, but they are great, and really easy to use. The screen is gorgeous. The front smudges easily but scratches are not to be found and it doesn't look like it will scratch anytime soon.

Will post an update regding sound quality 2moro and expect a full review soon.

Glad I am not one of the 10-kajillion other iPod users!

Great buy dude. I had seen a 4gig zen for 6.4k at Croma recently.

you are totally out of your mind, do you own an video iPod, I guess not otherwise you would'nt have said that. There is no brightness under setting , there is just backlight Timer and I dont need your expertise comment to know my iPod (maybe in the 80GB version or nano but no in the 30GB one). And there is no question if getting ripped, bought stright from Apple.

Here check this out, the third image shows setting with backlight timer.......and I would suggest to refrain your self from passing the judgement without knowing whom you are dealing with........I hope I made myself clear.......

actuallyiv been missing our little OS wars but uv made my week u know that uv made my week ... thank u very much

i got my ipod on the 15th of september 2006 and after that there have been only 3-4 firmware updates needless to say iv done em all at the same time iv had this little feature since day 1..... try opening itunes u knw that little audio software from apple and update ur ipod man one u have never updated ur ipod two u make statements like have u ever owned an ipod ...

now let me make this very freaking clear to u .... THE IPOD COMES WITH BRIGHTNESS CONTROL urs for some reason didnt .... firmware updates of the ipod are not meant to unlock features there is no specific update that brings the brightness control ur case was rested the day to tried making 1 (or rather the day i saw u making 1 )

Is Creative Zen available in India? Will we also get the lateste generation of iPod in India? Why is iPod so expensive here in India as compare to US? Is it coz of VAT etc? Most of the stores I checked here at my place have the older generation of iPods!

Does too. You bought yours when that firmware update with the brightness control feature wasn't yet released by Apple, which was quite a long time ago. As soon as the feature was released, all iPods started shipping with the latest firmware, so the newer 30GB iPods had the feature by default.

You're correct in a certain sense, but it's a "frog in the well" approach. Just because yours didn't ship with the latest firmware and you didn't upgrade to it when it was released does not mean every iPod shipped included the older firmware.

Trying? It's all automated once you click on one single 'Update' button in iTunes.
