Just like how iPod is costly in India will that same thing apply to Creative Zen? Will that be more expensive than in US? Can someone post me the price of Creative Zen here?

sam9s, I've already called them up, they said they don't have the 8 gigabyte version as of yet. Thought I will go to national market and check it out there...

Hey Ring_wraith can you give me more details about the one that you checked in the shop? Can you let me know if you are looking for Creative Zen?

I din't go, i called up, they said that they have only the 4GB version. Yes I am looking for the zen, and if I find it and it is close to the price of the new iPod nano, then I will most probably buy it, unless someone here convinces me otherwise.... but I will get a demo first...

The price difference is too high man for Creative Zen here as compared to US. For example
Creative Zen V Plus 1 GB costs Rs 3800 in India & in US its $ 59.99(Rs 2,400)
Creative Zen V Plus 2 GB costs Rs 4500 in India & in US its $69.99(Rs2,800)
Creative Zen 4 GB costs Rs 8000 in India & in US its $99.99(Rs4,000)

thats why I recomended iPod Video 5.5 G 30 GB. You get much more screen and space in it, you don't need to worry about the memory going kaput after a few hundred thousand write cycles, and you can make partitions in it, use it as a portable hard disc, as well as play games in it. You can even boot from it.

Yeah, it's pretty much the same situation for most electronics. :(

^^ oh man that sucks..... The zen 8 gig costs 199$ i.e. 7,800 bucks and a 4 gig costs 8k ?????

I guess 30 gig video it is.... and throwing away all humility I do consider myself an audiophile, in this respect do the iPods suck big time?

dude, India !

anyway, why are many suggesting the iPod Nano ? Whats there in a measly 4-8GB ? If you buy a pmp, you will slowly start deciding to take entire movies with you and will finally take a backup of your media library from your HDD. thats why iPod capacity keeps increasing and guys keep asking for more.

Hey all friends here can you tell me from where did you or from will you purchase the iPod? I have heard about Forum Mall in Bangalore and also some store in Mumbai which sell it in black. Can someone post me the details as to where its available in Bangalore and Mumbai. Please dont post me the link of the Apple website where it gives the list of Resellers in India. I want anything apart from that. Where would I get the 5.5 G 30 GB Ipod?

Get the iPod Classic 80gb. It has good sound quality, good quality display with decent size for video playback, plenty of space, excellent UI, and good battery life. Plus at around 10k its excellent value for money.

Why, what's wrong with it?

It's spelled "iPod", by the way, not "Ipod". :)

@MetalheadGautham,
Some people don't have huge libraries. Mine, for example, only amounts to about 680MB. And some people want a tiny player that they can carry around everywhere they want and which can handle some abuse.

Plus, believe me, no one wants to run Rockbox or iPod Linux or whatever. :p

Totally Agree with Arya . I totally love my iPod Nano and although the 2GB is now becoming a bit of a problem , i'll be buying a bigger size iPod Nano only :p

btw , Who said iPod Nano doesn't run iPodLinux , i run it on mine .

^^ actually, the PSP does have sound quality that surpasses the iPod's by a mile, and video quality that surpasses it be several miles :) but it has very less features, you can't even sort by artist or album, you gotta have folders for it, and you can't create playlists on the go..... :(

Well, such people are not generally musicphiles. For you guys iPod Shuffle is enough. Or the T-Sonic 610. Or the Zen Stone. But not all are like you. There are some who have bought the 160 GB iPod only because they actually keep rips of every movie they own in it. There is nothing better than watching a movie in a crowded bus .

My Music/Video collection is over 200 GB, but its a different issue that my HDD is only 80 GB and I have a T Sonic 610. Most of my stuff is in DVDs.

thats what you think. Non Apple fans who buy iPods due to informed desicions always install RockBox. perhaps linux is less used. Even those guys who don't have rockbox are influenced into installing it by their peers who show off customisable user interfaces, games, extra formats, etc in the iPod. But apple fans who beleive Apple gives the best they ever need stick with the default firmware.
