Hello everyone I got lot of time in my hand and I want to do something interesting.

This is what I got. 7 computers basically. 2 dish antennas, a iPod and a E-71. I want to do something out of this. Something interesting. I am willing to buy a few things like tv tuner card etc.

I was thinking more like networking all the computer and play games. Or network them make some as information kiosks or media centers. I just need some suggestions as in how to kill my time. Vacations now. I have all the time in the world and so many things laying around want to use them effectively.

3 computers - Dell Core 2 Duo 2 GB ram.
1 laptop - centrino duo 2 gb ram.
1 computer - Pentium D with 1 GB RAM.
1 computer - Amd Sempron 64 bit with 512 MB RAM.
1 computer - Pentium 3 128mb ram
iPod touch - 2G jailbroken
a wifi router, LAN adopter, lots of cable and permission from parents to wire the whole house
E-71, Nokia 6300, LG GX 300

if you are interested in makinga super computer read the previous month's digit mag - it has an article on making supercomputer.

BTW, i don't think a supercomputer will be able to play games though as the softwares which makes the cluster don't support any games and games don't support parallel processing using multiple cpu on different pcs over network.

I didn't want a supercomputer or playing all kinds of games per se. I have vacations now and all kinds of resources I just want to use them effectively and waste.

Thank you for your reply.

Uhu, Not Gonna Happen!
When does mobile phone includes Super computer

It is not any mobile phone...it is an iPhone. People have been driving cars using iPhones, flew balloon into space and recorded video using iPhone and all kind of other weired but amazing/astonishing/extraordinary tasks have been accomplished (I couldn't find all of them just now)...

For Making a super-computer u need to run a clustering software and setup high speed networking between the nodes also you need to make your own parallel programs which can run on all the CPUS can execute together...
IMO u should sell some systems and buy a Tesla or ATI Radeon card which have their OWN SDKS for parallel processing... any of them would be much powerfull for supercomputing compared to all your existing systems....

Thank you for the replies.

why don't build a cluster , with some gigabyte Ethernet . you got cabinates for all those pcs? .

yea I do have cabinets.

You guys took my "Super computer" statement too seriously. I meant i have all these resources. I want to do something interesting with it.

Dude its difficult to take "super Computer" as a joke!!Moreover you didn't sound sarcastic in your opening post.So let me get this straight : With all the "resources" you got now you would like to build a PC outta it, am I correct?and when I say "PC" I mean your run-of-the-mill PC doing general tasks, just so to be clear.

Ok let me tell you what i did till now. I networked all the computers. 2 run windows and 5 run ubuntu. One of the system I use it as a dedicated entertainment box for watching videos and has a tv tuner card. (not much of a gamer).

Now what else can I do?? I am simply bored. I wanna do something more. All I need is a idea I will somehow do it and post pictures here.

there are linux distros made for cluster computing but I don't think you will find them very useful but if you are interested in number crunching and benchmark scores you should give them a try.

here some distros to start with - give them a try :
