Connecting 2 computers

I have 2 computers at home. One of them is pretty old but can somehow manage to run Unreal tournament. So, what i have thought is to connect those two computers on a LAN. I have a budget of around 1.5K, including the LAN cards and the cabling. Also, I have a free PCI slot on each PC, so the card won't be a problem.

At the same time, I have two 56.6K modems [the dialup ones, which have a RJ25 connector port]. Can i use them to connect these two computers? Would it be enough for me to run Unreal Tournament in multiplayer mode. If it is, it would save me some money, and i could buy some RAM for my old computer.

I need suggestions on how to setup a network for these two computers. I would require around 20m of cabling...

I will explain in brief:
You Need
1) LAN cable..with cross climped.
2) LAN card on both computer.

6K modems [the dialup ones, which have a RJ25 connector port]. Can i use them to connect these two computers?
I have never seen any network on RJ11 or RF25 connector.

Please search forum...there are many with your answer.

Just connect both PC...and set IP setting as:
PC1
IP-->>192.168.0.1
subnet mast-->>255.255.255.0
default gateway-->>blank

DNS-->> leave blank, if you dont want to share internet.

PC2
IP-->>192.168.0.2
subnet mast-->>255.255.255.0
default gateway-->>192.168.0.1

DNS-->> leave blank, if you dont want to share internet.

^^Ravi it won't work the pcs are too far.He would require a Switch.

Buy a switch(8 port rs 600).Buy two lan cards(Rs 500 total).

U need this type of wiring

|1.2.3.4| |1.2.3.4| when both heads are kept parallel the wires say 1,2,3,4 will align in this manner.
Get a 1 meter wire and a 19 meter wire(rs 375).
Connect the wires to your Lan cards.Connect the other ends of the wires to your Switch.
Configure in this manner.

LAN properties
TCP/IP properties
PC1

IP address - 192.168.0.X1 (X1 may be any number from 1 to 254)
Subnet Mask - 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway - Blank

PC2
IP address - 192.168.0.X2(X2 may be any value from 1 to 254 but not X1)
Subnet mask - 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway - 192.168.0.X1
DNS server - (Give same as Default Gateway only if u want to surf net from PC1)

It will work mate.
This is not a case of simple DSL modem..which don't support long wires.

even i think it should. It's just 20m. I have seen people cabling over around 60-70m across 2 floors in a building without a hub/switch.

But it was for me that's why I bought a switch.My pcs are 20meter apart and LAN was not detected on either pcs until i connected them by a switch.

Oh forgot.Actually the vendor had not clipped the wires properly.I made parallel wires so i had to use a switch.
Yes LAN to LAN cable should work without any issues.Sorry,I apologize for creating confusion.

Q] What the hell does a cross clip mean [or cross clipping, for that purpose]?
A LAN cable is combination of 8 different color wires.It is clipped in two ways.
1) straight
2) cross
