Chrome poised to take No. 2 browser spot from Firefox

Each browser caters to different needs of people.

Firefox = for power users
Opera = for people drooling over features
Chrome = for people desiring speed and simplicity.
IE = for people who wants to live in the past.

Period

As some one who only "browses" on a "web browser" like chrome what exactly do the above terms mean?

I use chrome as all my bookmarks are in it, FF only for facebook, IE for snapbucket. Switching between them never felt like going from "speed and simplicity" to "power user" to "the past". Also I think IE is the only 64bit application of the lot.

Another reason I use chrome is because it wasn't cracked in that "cracking festival" of sort.

Market share of Chrome is *mainly* because of it being advertised everywhere and being shipped with softwares like Adobe Flash player (from Adobe's site), CCleaner, Irfanview et cetera. Good browser indeed as people do actually stick with it after it gets installed.

Otherwise, Opera is the right combination of Firefox and Chrome. The flexibility of Firefox combined into something which makes Chrome look slow. Only for the cultured elite.

No matter what you may say about IE, it is IE7 which started the trend of minimalistic UI. Chrome only got rid of the title bar.

Well, I got chrome back in the olden days when I had to search it on google to find the download page, I think right after alpha or beta, whatever it was.

Chrome made my 17" monitor look like a 19incher since it got rid of everything. I was an opera user back then and had some nifty additions involved, some DL manager and a p2p kinda data transfer add on. I might not be the kind of power user you are trying to imply but I think chrome is more convenient for a lot of people. The same reason why I deleted the shortcut on my desktop and highlighted FF and IE so that people stop using Chrome and mess with my book marks. Also it is very pleasing to the eyes.
I was inclining towards FF but a random search pointed me to yahoo search which pissed me off. Too lazy to fix my default search engine so ditched it again.

Strangely I don't find IE to be as bad as a lot of people put it. I never understood what was so "its stuck in the past" about it.

I have given a fair chance to every browser to come to that conclusion. You can't assume I have 'only' used Chrome!

I use chrome as all my bookmarks are in it, FF only for facebook, IE for snapbucket.

Somehow, that logic doesn't make sense to me. You can store (/import) all your bookmarks from Chrome to FF, and you can browse FB on Chrome too (or in it's Incognito window).
Also you can use IE Tab extension to run IE needed sites right inside Chrome.

Another reason I use chrome is because it wasn't cracked in that "cracking festival" of sort.

That's a plus one for Chrome. :)

BMG ftw!!
my point: this happened because of tjhe new technique adapted by ff, changing version number almos every month & forced downloading of new 'version'.

Though Chrome is my primary browser, I certainly miss several features with it like working offline, support for download manager etc.

Firefox is my secondary browser the only problem is that it slows down as the tabs increase.

Use IE only to check my BSNL usage, dumb devs, does not support other browsers.

FF is fast by how much?

I tried dragging a word to the tab area which hits a google search on chrome but it did nothing on FF. Was stoned for a moment before realising that I'm not on chrome.

With a 4mbps connection, I find no difference with a DL manager.

I use FF and Chrome in my linux distro but always goes back to FF.. perhaps it is different in windows?

The only reason why i [ and probably every other Firefox user ] uses Firefox is for the Addons ..

Screengrab [ Custom Screenshot tool ] , Flashget [ Download Manager , lets you download all links in page , particulalrly usefull in extracting pages from Google Books ] , SaveImages [ Save all image files [ can filter according to size ] in a webpage ] , Imagezoom [ Gives zoomed view of image in Facebook when Mouse pointer hovered over ], QuickJava [ Provides shortcut buttons to Activate/Disable Images / Flash / Java/ Silverlight/Javascript]

Then there's the Adbock Plus and Video DOwnloader which i don;t use personally but has ~10M users .
