C'mon dude. This microsoft-sucks-linux-rox stuff does NOT appeal everyone. Just a viewpoint.

When did I ever mention Linux? Don't put words in my mouth.

FYI there are several legally free alternatives to proprietary non-free software not just Linux.

^^ Still for the average Joe all that stuff is Linux.. Yeah yeah; OpenSolaris, FreeBSD to name some.. and thats all I know. And none of the two are actually as good as Windows or Ubuntu/openSUSE or Mac OS for casual-user-home-use.

Even if microsoft finds Pirated Copy of windows installed on your machine. the best they can do is erase it with some specialized software so that you cannot recover it.

This can produce some business loss.

With more & more people moving towards Laptop, ditching laptops.
Piracy would decrease as Almost all laptop manufactures bundle an OEM license of OS.
