^^ Trend micro is the WORST IMHO..................
Try kaspersky or NOD32 and you will come to know
First of all......
Have you tried Trend Micro???

I've tried all the AVs and ISs which you all can name......

Trend Micro IS 2008 Pro is the best Internet Security Suite available in the market and it contains the most features as compared to any of Internet Security even Kaspersky...........Virus Detection is also good, atleast better then Norton, McAfee IMHO. It also has various tools which fix registry problems like CCleaner & Registry Mechanic. Also it contains Remote File Lock is also one of the most innovative feature which No other IS has till date. It also has special interface for security on Wireless Networks.....

The only problem with it is that it is a Resource Hog.I have used Genuine Trend Micro Internet Security 2007, then 2008 Pro for more than 1.5 years before switching to NOD32 because my old PC couldn't resist it.

Trend Micro was the 1st company to provide 3 licenses at the price of one.......

And yes, Internet Security Suite means a Suite not just AntiVirus detection......

But kaspersky and Nod32 are the best......
whatever trend micro might be nearer to KAS but nothing can BEAT KAS...
and IMHO it is becoz of lots of software they have included in trend micro which makes it dead slow..
Using third party softwares (installing them seperately ) Helps a lot..

I have used Trend Micro 2007. All i can say is that it is better than Norton and McAffee is better than trend micro.
McAfffe Enterprise is much much better than trend micro.
Hope i make myself clear.
I dont want to start fanboy wars but its the obvious fact that Kaspersky and NOD32 are the best :)

My vote goes for AVG antivirus...

(out of the way, antispyware, i am using spybot S&D)

Paarth.
Dude, AVG is totally rubbish. In my school, it doesn't even used to detect Brontok, with which almost every computer of the lab were infected........

I tried AVG 8.0 pro and it takes up a lot of resources. As soon as I finish a download of an .exe file, it scans it in which it takes a lot of time and Firefox hangs. Also, at the same time, one of its process' CPU usage shoots to 99.......

My AVG working fine dude... i get daily updates through internet...
Also i used claimwin and avast.

Avast is a big crap man..it deletes system files if they are infected.. so screwed the OS once. :( then i tried claimwin..but its not that effective.

Norton is best but it eats hell lot of memory yaar :(

then finally i am using AVG 7.5 Email server edition.

^^ It may be a false positive.

And one more thing....
NOD32 is the only AntiVirus which gives the least number of False positives.

What exactly the file do (if you can share the info with us that is)?

If it is a file to alter system settings (like registry) then Prevex will pick it up and BTW, PrivX gives very high false positives as it caches potentially dangerous programs as viruses sometimes.
