PLS Help anybody .

Everything was right . Suddenly i found that all data on one of my whole
drive, has been converted into sum very strange luking Folders & a file
with names in unknown font .
I ran windows chkdisk (including recovery from bad sectors) .but only the
folders got removed & the file remained intact .
I browesed & checked my disk again & again by partition magic & ontrack
disc recovery but they show only
1. that file ,
2. System Vol. Info. folder
3. Found.000 Folder which holds 9414 chkdisk Files Summing up to 40 GB
(roughly) the same size of data on that drive .

I m really puzzled . I m using SAMSUNG SP0822N 80 GB IDE Hard Disk with
just two partitions (corrupted one - 42 GB Fat32 , other 33 GB Fat32 )
.Another Hard Disk is Samsung SP0802N 80 GB IDE (it has my OS Windows XP -
SP2 ) .

I hav converted my partition to NTFS using Partition Magic but for no use
.
So , i converted it back to FAT 32 .

I hav also checked the registry by Tune Up Utilities and hav also tried
Disconnecting & reconnecting the Hard Disk , but nothing happened .
Pls . I will b really thankful 4 Any kind of Help .

Hey Cryin soul, u can still use the converted files jus drag them to your player (winamp or media player)

or jus open command prompt
go to the directory which hold your data
and fire > ren *.* *.mp3
You wont get the file names through this. Listen to all your 40 gb songs and rename them one by one (He He Ha Ha)
Happy Renaming.

I somehow believe that your harddrive might have some bad sectors.

Use Norton Disk Doctor or some related software to check for bad sectors first.

Then try recovering those files in the partition using Stellar Phoenix
or other software

THanx Man it Worked .
At First I was reluctant to use this bcoz the new files count is more than 9000 , while originally there were sum 8000 files only & also all the files are now in a single folder with names like "FILE0055" .

But now all the info related to the files like there original names , folders & ID3 Tags r lost . On playing with Winamp - it shows "artist - Track 01" for every file .

Is there any way to get my old folder structure or file names or even ID3 tags back .

But , Thanx Again .

Try restoring your system to an older state using system restore[/B. I hope you have a restore point not very far away.

Hi,
SAMSUNG SP0822N 80 GB IDE Hard Disk ? This is the same hardisk I have that got corrupted the same way! Coincidence?

Neways what I found was.......Using linux I cud play all the files on the same location.
So better use knoppix or someother Linux distro to recover ur files.
I mean in my problem the files were there in the same path and nothing changed. But in Xp the files were lost!

hmmm nice logic...its strange though!!

i think for getting ur file names or even ID3 tags back try using media monkey player...it will update the id3 tags or file name through internet..though its paid player ,also cant so sure tht it gonna update ur bollywood tracks, but for english titles it will !!
