A new Cell Phone Reqd: Budget 20k

Flash is not a must have for me, although its always good to have one.
Same goes with the official update thing.

Nexus S and Galaxy S hardware is quite same. So when Nexus S gets ICS officially, it will be available for Galaxy S unofficially.

Galaxy S is good in terms of super amoled screen which is superb, plus mmc option, fm radio, great dev support @xda forum Only thing missing is Camera flash. Ignore that and buy Galaxy S.

Went to the market today and after searching 4-5 shops, found 1 Nexus model. That too at a price of 26k !!!

I am not in a mood to extend my budget so much.

Please suggest me a phone among from Samsung Galaxy 9000 or 9003, or SE Ray !!

I am avoiding HTC phones because of battery issues.
Also, Incredible S is priced around 24k which is a little over my budget.

I am looking for something under the 20k mark ...

Hardware wise Samsung ones are a step ahead of Ray

+Gorrilla glass screen+AMOLED screen (not in i9003)
+Internal memory (4/8GB Vs 300MB)
+Blutooth 3.0
-No Flash

Ray
+8mp Camera(Top-notch) Vs 5mp (All in all, no cam comparison)
+Brilliant looks (One of the best)
+Bravia Engine Display (gives excellent color reproduction @ 300ppi, And one of the best LCD display)
+TimeEscape UI

Now the call is yours. I'll chose Ray here. (3.3" is enough for me)

^Thats a 4" Super Amoled display vs 3.3" LCD...
Bravia Engine display doesnt do anything great. Its really just marketing stuff. Yeah.. the high ppi does help and images and text will be a lot sharper on the Ray than on Galaxy S.
According to me both Timescape UI and TouchWiz are not great. One is over styled and just eye candy. The other a little childish.
Still its a difficult choice here. I personally like Galaxy S better than Ray(looks and asthetic wise), buts upto the buyer to judge that.
OP should go feel the devices in his hands in working condition and then take a decision.

^^Check this-
What Sony Ericsson Mobile BRAVIA Engine really does

If you have been keeping track you would know that the recent batch of high-end Xperia smartphones pack some of the best LCD displays we have seen. Their Reality displays might lack a bit in viewing angles, but their image quality is downright splendid, and as the company would gladly tell anyone, their new Mobile BRAVIA Engine certainly plays a big part in delivering it.
Now marketing talk is always sweet, but very rarely true so we decided to check out if that engine really does anything or it’s a gimick. Here come our observations along with plenty of photos evidence that we gathered along the way.

The good news is the BRAVIA Engine does everything that Sony Ericsson promises it will do. It enhances sharpness, increases contrast and saturation and tries to tackle digital noise.

Another Update: It seems that the local market has run out of stock with the Galaxy also.
Only Galaxy Sl i9003 is available around 17.5k.

Since I won't be purchasing online, I dont have many options left now.

Either buy the Galaxy SL.
Or Wait for the Defy+ ??
Even Xperia Neo V seems nice. But I couldn't find any reviews ...

What are your suggestions friends?
If the difference is not much, then the phone with higher internal memory would suit me better as I think I'll be installing lots of applications on the phone.

@dashing.sujay - Its hardly detectable on a mobile screen. Its mentioned..with specifically Ray in mind. I have put Bravia Engine display on Xperia X8.. and i tell you you, the difference, however small, is there.. but hardly anything to impress you. Whatever it does, on a small screen its hard to decipher if the images have gone the better way or worse... You will just feel a lil diff.. that all.

@varuog - How much are u getting Neo V for? It seems like decent device, if the price is right. You might wanna take note of its internal memory.. Its pretty low.

The recently launched SE phones are not yet available in the local market.
And neither is the Galaxy S 9000 or the Nexus.

HTC Desire S is priced around 23k which goes above my budget of 20k.

So, I am left with Galaxy SL 9003 which is available for 17k.
I think it's a good buy at this price and will most probably purchase it this Thursday.

I hope I am not making a wrong decision !!

Honestly dude,it is a bad choice.
Even N8 will be better than galaxy sl.
Cant you find galaxy S at flipkart?
Is it out of stock?

I don't want to purchase it online because:
1. My N82 is not working and I need a phone at the earliest.
2. I am already supposed to get a refund of rs 6000 from letsbuy.com but have not yet recieved it.

BTW, can you tell me on what grounds is it a bad choice ??

Firstly the display is nothing compared to galaxy S.
Weaker gpu than the original.
Smaller memory of 4gigs.
For just 2k more, you can get one of the best single core phone around.
N8 is better because of the superb camera, built and very decent battery life.
