10-15K Processor+MB+RAM+HD

Hello,

I want to build my PC gradually. With options for adding things later or upgrading to better specs. Right now my budget is 10-15k.
Will be using it for work, casual gaming & multimedia.
I am looking for processor, motherboard, 4 GB RAM and 500 GB Hard disk.

I haven't answered the PC build questionnaire since I am not buying a complete PC now. I'll post it if its required.

Is that board a worth as nowadays the overclocking is a must and most preferred choice which could eliminate on the long run

macho84, i5 2400 is a not K processor and can't be overclocked with any motherboard. So H61 based mobo is ok with it. However, you will miss the feature set like USB 3.0, SATA 3 6 Gbps etc.
My suggestion is Intel DH67VR-B3 @ 4.5K, has 4 ram slots with 32 GB Ram support, 2 USB 3.0 and 2 SATA 3 6 Gbps port. Its better for future upgrades.

^^+1... Also no point in going for a 1600MHz RAM as H61/H67 mobos support only till 1333MHz...

I guess I need a new PSU too. I have a 7 year old P4 machine now. And I guess its PSU can't support the new specs.

Anything equivalent in AMD which I could go for? It would cost a bit less in AMD right?

At the price range actually Core i5 2400 is unbeatable in terms of performance and there is no AMD equivalent. However, for your usage like casual gaming, multimedia and day to day work, Phenom II X4 955 is a good option. Here is my suggestion:-

Gigabyte GA-880GM-UD2H @ 4K
Seagate 7200.12 500 GB SATA @ 1.8K
G.Skill Ripjaws F3-12800CL9S-4GBRL (single 1600 MHz 4 GB) @ 2K
Corsair CX400 @ 2.3K

Pretty good, problem is that the cheapest mobo is priced 5.5k and together the CPU aka APU it will cost closer to 12k. You do get better graphics performance but sacrifice on the CPU performance compared to Phenom II X4 or i5.

@OP:
If gaming is somewhat important to you, better to go with Cilus' config.

I would suggest going for i5 2400 as its much powerful than 955be. Since you don't want to include psu in your budget, exclude that & get the i5 based rig suggested earlier.

But if you you don't want that much cpu /gpu power and instead want a balanced rig for everything, amd's llano makes more sense.

Within 15k, you can get a llano based cpu+mobo+ram+hdd. Its upto you to decide what you want as per your requirements.
