hangs

guys i upgraded my mobo an proccy to c2d and intel 945. i have an pata hdd connected to it.the hdd in win xp often makes a sound and stops responding.os hangs. should i do a bios update???? hdd is workin good with no probs.

my google talk is always on and i listen to music in winamp. but whenever i try to set my status as "show currently playing music track" in gtalk it always hangs. can someone tell me how to solve this problem???

I have the firefox version 2.0.0.11 installed on my PC. While browsing it hangs up abruptly and then i have to force it to terminate using task manager. This happens without any reason. Can any one explain me what is the issue and what is the workaround ?
