The Sony NWZ A820 series is Sony's latest addition to their Walkman range of DAPs. It comes in capacities of 8 and 16 GB and its USP is the inclusion of Bluetooth to please all those cable-haters among us. For those people who don't care about Bluetooth [like me] Sony has also launched the NWZ A720 range, which is exactly the same as the NWZ-A820 with the exclusion of Bluetooth. The NWZ A720 series sells at the exact same prices as the iPod Nano, with the 8GB selling for 199$ and the 16GB for 299$. The Bluetooth enabled A820 comes for 269$ for the 8GB and 319$ for the 16GB.

In my opinion, this is it. The iPod/Zen/Clix/D2 killer we all have been waiting for. Why? First off, and most importantly, it comes with Sony's legendary Audio quality. Any audiophile will tell you that the entire Sony line-up leaves the iPod Nano in the dust when it comes to Sound Quality. The inclusion of the in-the-ear MDR-EX082 earbud makes it even better. The screen is 0.4" larger than the Nano, and makes viewing videos a lot sweeter. It also has an insane battery life of 35+ hours for Audio and 10 hours for Video. And if you don't need stereo Bluetooth [which I don't recommend, as it does drain battery life pretty fast], you get it all at the same price as the Nano.

And no, it does not need Sony's evil software, SonicStage. It works perfectly well with WMP11, which I feel is one of the best options out there to keep your device synced.

I'l actually be heading up north for a vacation and if I see the 8GB A720 in Delhi for a reasonable price, I'll sell my Zen without a second thought and buy it.

Even though I like Sony and its products, I'd still get the Creative Zen instead of this because of more features.

BTW you forgot to mention that this player comes with a great set of earphones, something none of its competitors offers (except iRiver maybe who give Sennheiser's with their players).

Hell yeah it performs well. There's already a review out, and even that would be unnecessary, Sony's SQ is something you will never have to worry about. They did invent portable audio, you know. I totally agree with you on the look. Its beautifully understated.

And @krazzy, I have a Zen, and trust me, the Build and Sound Quality are really awesome things to have in lieu of features like an FM Radio and Expandable Memory. Let me tell you, Expandable memory is useless on the Zen. It does not integrate into the library! You have to navigate to a special section of the menu to access whatever is on the card. So if you insert a 4 gig card into the 8 gig Zen, it doesn't become 12 Gigs, it becomes 8+4Gigs. [Hope you get the point]

If you want features, get the Cowon D2. Nothing beats it, whatsoever. I would get it, but I can't live with the touchscreen [you have to use a stylus] and the bulk.

People like me, who actually recognize what SQ is, who don't want to spend 26k to have 8GB of Memory and of course who do not want their MP3 players to ring.
