No...I had to just show them my documents and visit the police station once where they just ask you general questions...that's it

Sorry for bumping this thread but its important.

Q1. The electricity bill of our current (and permanent, same) address is under my father's name. We moved in just last month here. The last place we used to live was rented, which has the electricity bill under the owner's name. I don't have any other proof of address that mentions the address being under my name. None of my parents' documents mention our current address either.

Q2. My name is different on the birth certificate and I have a public notary affidavit which was made when I took admission in nursery (so, very long time ago).

So, the thing is the PSK isn't accepting any of the above as proof of address and/or identity. :banghead:
What to do now? I want to get the passport within 50 days if possible. (Applied normally)

Tagging the op @gopi_vbboy, @Faun, @theserpent, @thetechfreak, @seamon for suggestions.

Update: So, just called the CC at 18002581800 and have decided to open a new account in Axis/ICICI bank for address proof. That should count without needing the current address being under my name. ( I didn't knew I have to give proof of current address only. )

As for ID Proof, CC said to get Annexure E sworn affidavit and some news paper clippings.

Suggestions are still welcome.

You can get a new birth certificate made from the hospital from where you were born for the id proof. I highly recommend this as you may need it later.

Bank passbook works flawless as address proof.

OK. One question though, would they issue a certificate with changed name this late (22 years) ?

Sorry dude but I dont know the answer. Did you talk with passport guys that why they are rejecting and what they will need to process it ?

You can try getting a notary affidavit to confirm that your name was changed.

Use ration card and aadhar card for identity and address.

They said I'll need to have a joint account with both of my parents' separate accounts with different addresses (current and previous). -_-

Notary affidavit is valid, but they need it in their prescribed format. -_________- (Totally PITA)

No ration card or aadhar. Even if I had them, it would have contained previous address only.

Saiyangoku: I had the same problem..my name in the birth certificate was different as my name was changed just before I turned 2..the passport office did not accept the birth certificate and the copy of the gazette magazine in which the name change notice was issued..finally, I had to give a small ad( like in times classifieds) stating that my name has been changed from xyz to ABC along with the address..
when the notice is printed, purchase a few copies of the newspaper( for future purposes) & submit the front page and the classified page ( mark your ad) to the office..
There might be an simpler way to get an id proof, but this is what I had to do in Nagpur..

Saiyangoku- Get a new Birth certificate saying you lost your old one while re-locating and get the new one done with your actual name (the one on your 10th Marks Card). You have to get it from the Local Registrar of birth and death(local to the hospital where you were born). You need to make an affidavit saying you lost the original blah blah. That's what I did for my passport.

Thanks for your valuable suggestions. I think going with ashs1's method would be less time consuming. Notary office babus will take like 30-40 minutes to get the job done, and a day's worth of wait to get the ad in newspaper. While getting a new birth certificate could take days. :|
@ashs1, please give a template of that ad. :)

I'll save that day's e-paper for future purpose along with 2-3 physical copies. ;) Easier to manage.
