It's a D7000 with Nikkor 50mm 1.8G lens. Basically a prime lens. I wish it had zoom in capabilities.

Yeah, Y500 is great for the price. Except that the touchpad is useless.

Hey Faun, congos. Wanna do a favor ? post a gaming performance review of Y500, especially with bf3 ? :)
I was able to play BF3 with >35 fps at 1650x1050 resolution with almost everything at highest setting. Will post a screenshot. Will only be able to do full comparison later.

prime lenses are revered for the astounding quality they deliver. accurate positioning of lens elements etc..

but i'm sure you know all this :p
