Some major applications among the long list of features that you can disable are:

- All Windows games
- Internet Explorer 8
- Indexing services
- .NET framework
- Windows DVD Maker
- Windows Media Player
Despite the tool, users will not be able to configure much of Windows 7 during the installation and setup process. Even though it received a great deal of feedback to allow options to be configured during setup, Microsoft felt that in order to reduce the complexity of getting Windows up and running, the disabling feature will only be available after installation is complete.

No. Not like linux. In every version of windows, there is an option in Control Panel "Add/Remove windows components". In windows 7, lot more components are added to this list.

during installation it could just have asked, custom or standard like most softwares do. that would not have made the process complicated. and yes, windows 7 runs like a dream, no frequent slowing down like vista, I think we have a deserving successor to windows XP.
And guys, for newer version of windows, we are bound to need better hardware. even XP did not run on the hardware wich was able to run windows 98. this time the eime gap is much longer, so please don't make that an issue. anyways for the same money what a P4 1.7 Ghz cost in 2002 (when XP is released) we can now get a dual core machine with a low end graphics card, so that should not be much of an issue. but still, I do agree that vista was a memory hog & no configuration could satisfy it completely.
