I just bought a Dell Inspiron 15R 5520.
I got Windows 7 Home Basics. I also got an upgrade offer. I can upgrade to Windows 8 in just Rs 699. Here's the simple question:
I can easily get fully activated Windows 8 from any torrent site, my friends have alredy downloaded it. Why should I spend Rs 700 on getting a Windows 8 when I get it for free?

Its like this, there is no shopkeeper in a store or he is too busy to notice you, you can pick up a packet of chips and run like hell, or you can pay for it, let you moral compass guide you.

1. To pay the developers for the work they have done.
2. Support from Microsoft
3. Peace of mind
4. Going Legal way rather than pirating.

All I am asking is if there would be anything wrong with the version downloaded from the net.
And of course as history has it, Bill Gates lost all his fortune because Windows 7 was pirated too much.

Say wat? Are you high?

And the answer is: we won't say, find out for yourself, we don't support piracy, so your question won't be entertained.

I did the upgrade on my Lenovo z580, and my bro installed a pirated copy,
The difference, he can't personalise it, I can. Worth it, dude its just 700 bucks, and its a worthy upgrade, boot times are far lesser, mine boots in 11-12 secs flat.

When I bought the Dell Laptop I totally had it in mind that I would upgrade but when my friends were using fully activated Windows 8 downloaded from internet, even Rs 700 seemed like waste.

The question still remains, Is there any problem with downloading Windows 8?

Let me clarify why I am asking this question.
After spending around Rs 44k on my new laptop, I am left with Rs 2300 approx. I have to get a broadband connection, buy a mouse and a headset. I am sure its not idiocity to skip buying Windows 8 to accommodate all these in my budget
